ضرب زلزال بلغت قوته 6.16 درجات جزر فانواتو في المحيط الهادئ، اليوم (الأحد)، وفقاً للمركز الألماني لأبحاث علوم الأرض.
وأوضح المركز أن الزلزال وقع على عمق نحو 125 كيلومتراً تحت سطح الأرض، بحسب البيانات الأولية التي نقلتها وكالة «رويترز».
ويأتي الزلزال بعد هزة أرضية قوية شهدتها المنطقة أمس السبت، بلغت قوتها 6.9 درجات، وأعقبتها هزة ارتدادية بقوة 6.3 درجات، وفق هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية.
ولم تتضمن التقارير الأولية المتاحة تفاصيل مؤكدةً بشأن وقوع خسائر بشرية أو أضرار مادية جراء زلزال اليوم.
A 6.16 magnitude earthquake struck the Vanuatu Islands in the Pacific today (Sunday), according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences.
The centre explained that the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 125 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface, based on preliminary data reported by Reuters.
This earthquake follows a strong tremor that hit the region yesterday, Saturday, which had a magnitude of 6.9, followed by a aftershock of 6.3 magnitude, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Initial reports available did not include confirmed details regarding any human casualties or material damages resulting from today’s earthquake.
