At a time when losing any attacking player is unacceptable, Al-Hilal will miss the services of Brazilian Martinelli against Qatari Al-Shamal, in the third round of the AFC Champions League, due to a muscle injury he sustained against Al-Qadisiyah in the Roshen League.
Martinelli left the match against Al-Qadisiyah in the 49th minute, affected by an injury to the hamstring, leading the coaching staff, led by Italian Simone Inzaghi, to exclude him from the Asian encounter to give him enough time to recover and avoid aggravating the injury.
Inzaghi’s Technical Challenge
The absence of Italian Inzaghi presents him with a new challenge in managing his options, as major matches are not decided by names alone, but by the coach’s ability to find suitable replacements and maintain the team’s balance and effectiveness.
Between the importance of the Asian match and the necessity of keeping the players fit, Inzaghi will need to prove that Al-Hilal’s strength lies in its integrated system, not in a single player, and that the bench is capable of making a difference.
Significant Absence and Available Alternatives
Martinelli’s absence poses a technical challenge, given his speed and ability to penetrate and make a difference in individual encounters, in addition to his notable scoring contributions at the beginning of his journey with Al-Hilal.
Nevertheless, Al-Hilal has multiple attacking options that give Inzaghi the opportunity to rearrange his cards, whether by relying on alternative names on the flanks or making adjustments to player positions in the final third, in line with Al-Shamal’s defensive style.
Martinelli’s absence may deprive Al-Hilal of one of its important weapons, but it opens the door for the other players to prove their ability to compensate and maintain offensive effectiveness while continuing their strong presence in the Asian championship.
