The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification emphasized the important role of agricultural landowners in enhancing afforestation and increasing green areas in the Eastern Province, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.
This came during a workshop organized by the center’s branch in the region as part of the 2026 afforestation season, with the participation of relevant entities, businessmen, environmental activists, and farm owners, to discuss afforestation targets, combating sand encroachment, rehabilitating farms and ghada habitats in the Empty Quarter, and reviewing alternative financing options.
