Whenever the great symbols of art talk about their beginnings, hidden worlds unfold before us that preceded the years of fame and spotlight. This is what the “Oak of Syrian Drama,” the esteemed artist Muna Wasef, did when she captured attention as a guest of honor at the eleventh edition of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, setting aside artistic questions to dive into the behind-the-scenes of a childhood marked by movement and passion.
In spontaneous and candid press statements, Muna Wasef recounted details of her childhood memories that were no less vibrant than her immortal roles, confirming that her passion for sports began very early. She recalled her close connection to swimming since the age of fourteen, thanks to her mother’s encouragement, who noticed her love for movement, cycling, and skating, and took her to the “Syrian” family pool to start a love story with water that continues to this day, revealing that she was swimming even just a few days before participating in the festival.
And the tales of childhood were not limited to sports alone; they extended to touch an eternal passion for reading. The Oak of Drama explained that reading novels and swimming in the worlds of daily newspapers since her early years shaped her cultural awareness and refined her artistic personality, emphasizing that those who are accustomed to engaging with literature and news can never escape the magic of reading and following the details of life.
