A Yemeni human rights report has revealed an unprecedented escalation in violations committed by the Houthi militia in Taiz Governorate, documenting 2,264 crimes and violations during the period from September 1 to October 29, 2026, along with the random firing of 12,761 projectiles, most of which targeted residential neighborhoods and civilian gatherings.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms stated in its report released today, Friday, titled “Taiz… Between Killing and Siege,” that the violations included killing, sniping, kidnapping, torture, house explosions, looting of property, and targeting civilian facilities, coinciding with the tightening of the siege on the city and its rural areas.

189 Killed and 324 Kidnapped

The report documented the killing of 189 civilians, including 38 children, 9 of whom were infants, and 27 women, with 281 others injured, including 29 children and 46 women, in addition to recording 23 cases of field executions and 134 cases of assault.

It also recorded 324 cases of kidnapping and enforced disappearance, including 14 children, 3 women, and 25 elderly people, in addition to raiding 521 homes and storming and searching 81 homes, documenting the explosion of 4 houses and damage to 356 houses, of which 98 were completely destroyed.

The report noted the storming of 23 schools and their conversion into military barracks, the kidnapping of students from the campus of the Taiz University branch in Al-Turbah, as well as damage to 7 mosques and places of worship and the seizure of 35 government premises.

Siege of Millions and Health Risks

On the humanitarian side, the report revealed that the Houthis intensified the siege since September 3, establishing 26 checkpoints and barriers, cutting off main roads, and preventing the entry of food, medicine, fuel, oxygen, and drinking water, exposing about two million people to a worsening living and humanitarian crisis.

It pointed out that the siege has caused the prices of essential goods to triple, disrupted the income sources of tens of thousands, while 345 health facilities were affected, and about 247,000 people lost access to basic healthcare.

It warned that the threat of supply shortages could disrupt services in 12 hospitals, with 115 essential drug types nearing depletion, and affecting dialysis, intensive care, and incubators for newborns, in addition to the displacement of about 280,000 people fleeing from shelling and violations.

The network called on the international community and the United Nations to declare Taiz a disaster-stricken city, lift the siege, open the roads, secure the delivery of aid, and hold accountable those responsible for the violations, emphasizing that targeting civilians and civilian objects, starvation, and the recruitment of children necessitate international accountability.
