The Sudanese army has taken control of the Al-Hamadi area in South Kordofan state, following battles with the Rapid Support Forces, achieving field progress across three fronts as part of its operations aimed at reclaiming areas in the north and west of the country and opening the road towards the Darfur region.
Military sources reported that the southern front forces managed to seize areas south of the city of Al-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, before entering the Al-Hamadi area and establishing control over it.
On the western front, army forces regained control of the areas of Abu Qudoud and Al-Mamsouka, along with several villages where the Rapid Support Forces had been operating, while the northwestern front forces continued their advance after reaching the Um Marahik area two days ago.
The Al-Arabiya channel reported, citing sources, that the Sudanese army also took control of the Um Sumayma area in North Kordofan state, amid ongoing battles between the two sides.
The Sudanese forces are seeking to reach the positions of the Rapid Support Forces in West Kordofan, which are considered one of their main strongholds in the region, in preparation for opening the road towards Darfur in the west of the country.
The Rapid Support Forces control all five Darfur states, except for parts of North and West Darfur, out of a total of 18 Sudanese states, while the army controls most of the other states, including the capital, Khartoum.
