حين تتحدث الحقائق وتشهد المواقف تتراجع حملات التضليل وتبقى الروابط التاريخية والأخوية بين الشعبين اليمني والسعودي أكبر من كل محاولات التشويه والوقيعة، فالعلاقة بين اليمن والمملكة العربية السعودية ليست علاقة عابرة فرضتها ظروف السياسة بل هي علاقة جوار وتاريخ ودين ومصير مشترك رسّختها قرون من التواصل الاجتماعي والإنساني وعزّزتها المواقف المتبادلة في مختلف المراحل والمنعطفات.
قبل أيام اتصل بي عدد من الجيران والأصدقاء القادمين من اليمن إلى مكة المكرمة لأداء مناسك العمرة يعبرون عن سعادتهم بالوصول إلى الأراضي المقدسة، وحين سألتهم عن رحلتهم تحدثوا عن الازدحام في منافذ الدخول إلى المملكة في ظل توافد المعتمرين والعائدين إلى أعمالهم ووظائفهم، عندها تأملت هذا المشهد الذي يعكس جانباً من عمق العلاقة بين البلدين، ويدفع إلى التساؤل عن مدى التناقض بين هذه الحقائق الماثلة على الأرض وبين الخطابات التي تروج لها مليشيات الحوثي والتي تحاول تصوير العلاقة اليمنية السعودية وكأنها علاقة خصومة وعداء.
فلو كانت الحرب كما تسعى مليشيات الحوثي ومن يروّج لخطابها من المتأيرنيين وتصويرها حرباً بين الشعبين اليمني والسعودي، فكيف نفسر استمرار الروابط الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والإنسانية بين البلدين؟
وكيف نفسّر حضور ملايين اليمنيين في المملكة عبر العقود ومساهمة المغتربين اليمنيين في إعالة أسرهم وتعزيز صمود مجتمعاتهم في الداخل إلى جانب استمرار حركة المعتمرين والزائرين والتواصل الأسري والاجتماعي؟
وعلى امتداد سنوات الحرب برزت المواقف السعودية الداعمة للشعب اليمني في أكثر من مجال سواء من خلال المساعدات الإغاثية والإنسانية التي يقدمها مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية، أو عبر البرامج والمشروعات التنموية التي ينفذها البرنامج السعودي لإعادة وتأهيل اليمن والتي تستهدف قطاعات الصحة والتعليم والبنية التحتية،
كما اضطلعت المملكة بدور سياسي واقتصادي وعسكري في دعم الحكومة اليمنية المعترف بها دولياً ومساندة جهود استعادة مؤسسات الدولة وتعزيز الاستقرار، وهذه المواقف بما لها من أثر إنساني وسياسي تستحق التقدير والنقاش الموضوعي بعيداً عن المبالغات أو محاولات إنكار ما قدمته المملكة لليمنيين في ظروف بالغة الصعوبة.
وفي المقابل لا يمكن تجاهل حجم المأساة التي يعيشها اليمنيون جراء استمرار الحرب التي أشعلتها المليشيات وما خلفته من دمار ونزوح وفقر وتراجع في الخدمات الأساسية، لقد دفع اليمنيون أثماناً باهظة من أرواحهم وأمنهم ومستقبل أبنائهم، وأصبح إنهاء الصراع واستعادة مؤسسات الدولة وتحقيق السلام العادل ضرورة وطنية وإنسانية لا تحتمل التأجيل.
إن هذه الحقائق تؤكد أن الصراع مع مليشيات الحوثي لا ينبغي أن يقدم بوصفه صراعاً بين شعبين شقيقين، فالشعب اليمني ليس خصماً للمملكة كما أن الشعب السعودي ليس خصماً لليمن بل إن مصلحة الشعبين تكمن في الأمن والاستقرار والتعاون وحماية المصالح المشتركة.
إن الهجمات التي تنفذها مليشيات الحوثي ضد المملكة العربية السعودية وما يصاحبها من تهديد للأماكن المقدسة في مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة وتعريض سلامة المعتمرين والزوار للخطر، أو أي تهديدات تطال المدنيين والمنشآت الحيوية، يمثل تجاوزاً بالغ الخطورة لكل الاعتبارات الدينية والإنسانية، وتكشف خطورة النهج القائم على العنف وتصدير الصراع إلى دول الجوار وهي ممارسات تستوجب الإدانة الصريحة والوقوف العربي والإسلامي المسؤول في مواجهتها والعمل على منع تكرارها.
ومن المهم التأكيد أن أمن اليمن لا ينفصل عن أمن المملكة وأن استقرار البلدين مصلحة مشتركة لا تحتمل المزايدة أو العبث، فاليمن الذي أنهكته الحرب لا يمكن أن يستعيد عافيته في ظل استمرار الاعتداءات والتوترات مع جيرانه، كما أن سعي الحوثي لاستخدام الأراضي اليمنية منصة لتهديد المملكة أو استهداف أمنها لن يجلب لليمنيين سوى المزيد من العزلة والدمار والخسائر.
إن الحفاظ على العلاقات اليمنية السعودية وتعزيزها ليس مجرد خيار دبلوماسي بل ضرورة إستراتيجية تفرضها الجغرافيا والتاريخ والمصالح المشتركة.
ستبقى المملكة العربية السعودية جارة شقيقة لليمن وسيبقى الشعبان يجمعهما تاريخ من التداخل الاجتماعي والإنساني والمصالح المشتركة، ومهما حاولت حملات التضليل الحوثية أن تصنع الحواجز بينهما فإن الحكمة تقتضي أن تكون جسور الأخوّة أقوى من محاولات الفرقة وأن يتقدم صوت العقل والمسؤولية على أصوات التحريض والتصعيد.
When facts speak and positions testify, campaigns of disinformation retreat, and the historical and brotherly ties between the Yemeni and Saudi peoples remain greater than all attempts at distortion and division. The relationship between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not a fleeting relationship imposed by political circumstances; rather, it is a relationship of neighborhood, history, religion, and shared destiny, solidified by centuries of social and human communication and strengthened by mutual positions at various stages and turning points.
A few days ago, I received calls from several neighbors and friends who had come from Yemen to Mecca to perform Umrah, expressing their happiness at arriving in the holy lands. When I asked them about their journey, they spoke of the congestion at the entry points to the Kingdom due to the influx of pilgrims and those returning to their work and jobs. I then contemplated this scene, which reflects a facet of the deep relationship between the two countries and raises questions about the contradiction between these evident facts on the ground and the rhetoric promoted by the Houthi militias, which attempt to portray the Yemeni-Saudi relationship as one of enmity and hostility.
If the war is as the Houthi militias and their supporters among the Iranian-affiliated individuals seek to depict it—a war between the Yemeni and Saudi peoples—how do we explain the continued social, economic, and humanitarian ties between the two countries?
And how do we explain the presence of millions of Yemenis in the Kingdom over the decades and the contributions of Yemeni expatriates in supporting their families and enhancing the resilience of their communities back home, alongside the ongoing movement of pilgrims and visitors and family and social communication?
Throughout the years of war, Saudi positions supporting the Yemeni people have emerged in various fields, whether through the relief and humanitarian assistance provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center or through the development programs and projects implemented by the Saudi Program for the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Yemen, which target the health, education, and infrastructure sectors.
The Kingdom has also played a political, economic, and military role in supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government and assisting efforts to restore state institutions and enhance stability. These positions, with their humanitarian and political impact, deserve appreciation and objective discussion, away from exaggerations or attempts to deny what the Kingdom has provided to Yemenis in extremely difficult circumstances.
Conversely, we cannot ignore the magnitude of the tragedy that Yemenis are experiencing due to the ongoing war ignited by the militias, which has resulted in destruction, displacement, poverty, and a decline in basic services. Yemenis have paid a heavy price in terms of their lives, security, and the future of their children, and ending the conflict, restoring state institutions, and achieving just peace have become a national and humanitarian necessity that cannot be postponed.
These facts confirm that the conflict with the Houthi militias should not be presented as a conflict between two brotherly peoples. The Yemeni people are not adversaries of the Kingdom, nor are the Saudi people adversaries of Yemen; rather, the interests of both peoples lie in security, stability, cooperation, and protecting common interests.
The attacks carried out by the Houthi militias against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with the accompanying threats to the holy places in Mecca and Medina and endangering the safety of pilgrims and visitors, or any threats targeting civilians and vital facilities, represent a grave violation of all religious and humanitarian considerations. They reveal the dangers of a violent approach and the export of conflict to neighboring countries, which are practices that warrant explicit condemnation and responsible Arab and Islamic solidarity to confront them and work to prevent their recurrence.
It is important to emphasize that the security of Yemen is inseparable from the security of the Kingdom and that the stability of both countries is a shared interest that cannot tolerate exploitation or recklessness. Yemen, which has been exhausted by war, cannot regain its vitality amid ongoing assaults and tensions with its neighbors. Moreover, the Houthi’s pursuit of using Yemeni territory as a platform to threaten the Kingdom or target its security will bring Yemenis nothing but more isolation, destruction, and losses.
Maintaining and enhancing Yemeni-Saudi relations is not merely a diplomatic choice but a strategic necessity imposed by geography, history, and common interests.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will remain a brotherly neighbor to Yemen, and the two peoples will continue to share a history of social and human interconnection and common interests. No matter how much the Houthi disinformation campaigns attempt to create barriers between them, wisdom dictates that the bridges of brotherhood be stronger than attempts at division and that the voice of reason and responsibility prevails over the voices of incitement and escalation.
