شاركت المملكة العربية السعودية في الاحتفاء باليوم العربي للراصد والمتنبئ الجوي، الذي يوافق الثاني من مايو من كل عام، تحت شعار «نرصد لحماية مجتمعنا.. وتنمية أوطاننا»؛ وذلك تأكيداً على الدور الحيوي الذي يؤديه الراصدون والمتنبئون في حماية الأرواح والممتلكات ودعم مستهدفات التنمية المستدامة. ويهدف هذا الاحتفاء إلى إبراز الجهود العربية في تطوير قدرات الرصد، وتعزيز الجاهزية لمواجهة الظواهر الجوية المتطرفة، إضافة إلى رفع الوعي المجتمعي بأهمية المعلومات المناخية وتبادل الخبرات بين الدول العربية في هذا المجال.
وفي هذا السياق، أكد الرئيس التنفيذي للمركز الوطني للأرصاد الدكتور أيمن سالم غلام، أن المملكة تولي قطاع الأرصاد اهتماماً بالغاً عبر تطوير منظومات الرصد وتوظيف أحدث التقنيات لرفع دقة التوقعات، مشيراً إلى أن الكوادر الوطنية تمثّل الركيزة الأساسية في دعم اتخاذ القرار والتعامل مع الحالات الجوية بكفاءة واقتدار. كما نوّه بجهودهم الدقيقة التي تسهم في الحد من المخاطر المرتبطة بالطقس، مؤكداً اعتزازه بهذه الكفاءات وموضحاً أن المركز يواصل تنفيذ مبادرات نوعية وتعزيز الشراكات الوطنية لرفع كفاءة الاستجابة للظواهر الجوية وفق أفضل الممارسات العالمية.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the celebration of the Arab Day for Meteorologists and Weather Forecasters, which falls on the second of May each year, under the slogan “We Observe to Protect Our Community… and Develop Our Homelands”; this emphasizes the vital role that meteorologists and forecasters play in protecting lives and property and supporting sustainable development goals. This celebration aims to highlight Arab efforts in developing observation capabilities, enhancing readiness to face extreme weather phenomena, in addition to raising community awareness of the importance of climate information and exchanging experiences among Arab countries in this field.
In this context, the CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Ayman Salem Ghalam, confirmed that the Kingdom places great importance on the meteorology sector by developing observation systems and employing the latest technologies to improve the accuracy of forecasts, pointing out that national personnel represent the fundamental pillar in supporting decision-making and efficiently dealing with weather situations. He also noted their precise efforts that contribute to reducing weather-related risks, expressing his pride in these competencies and clarifying that the center continues to implement qualitative initiatives and enhance national partnerships to improve the response efficiency to weather phenomena according to the best global practices.
