تعرضت منشآت تابعة للمؤسسة الفرنسية للدم لهجوم سيبراني استهدف أنظمة التحكم في غرف التبريد المخصصة لحفظ البلازما والمنتجات الدموية، إذ حاول قراصنة رفع درجات حرارة الثلاجات إلى مستويات شديدة الارتفاع، ما هدد بإتلاف المخزونات الطبية، قبل أن تتمكن أنظمة الإنذار من اكتشاف الهجوم وإحباطه.
وأكدت المؤسسة الفرنسية للدم أن الهجوم وقع (الإثنين) الماضي، وطال أنظمة مراقبة وتشغيل غرف التبريد في ثلاثة مواقع تابعة لها، دون تسجيل أي أضرار في المنتجات الدموية أو تأثيرات صحية على المرضى.
وبحسب صحيفة «لو كانار أونشينيه» الفرنسية، حاول المهاجمون إعادة برمجة أنظمة التبريد عن بُعد لرفع درجات الحرارة من 30 درجة مئوية تحت الصفر إلى 110 درجات مئوية، في محاولة لتعطيل ظروف التخزين اللازمة للحفاظ على البلازما والعينات الطبية.
وأوضحت المؤسسة أن أنظمة المراقبة والإنذار رصدت التغييرات غير الطبيعية بسرعة، ما أتاح للفرق الفنية التدخل واتخاذ إجراءات وقائية، شملت تأمين أكياس البلازما ونقل بعضها إلى منشآت أخرى، مؤكدة عدم فقدان أي منتجات دموية أو تعطل عمليات جمع الدم وتوزيعه على المستشفيات.
وأشارت التحقيقات الأولية إلى أن الهجوم استهدف أنظمة تبريد يديرها مزود خدمات خارجي، وليس الأنظمة الداخلية للمؤسسة بصورة مباشرة.
من جانبها، أكدت شركة «كولوورلد» (Coolworld)، المزودة لمعدات التبريد، أن الحادثة ارتبطت باختراق برمجيات لإدارة أنظمة التبريد يوفرها طرف ثالث، وأن عدداً محدوداً من وحداتها تأثر بالهجوم.
وأعلنت السلطات الفرنسية اتخاذ إجراءات لتأمين المعدات المتضررة وتشديد مراقبة أنظمة التبريد، فيما تتواصل التحقيقات لتحديد كيفية تنفيذ الهجوم وحجم الأنظمة المتأثرة.
ويأتي هذا الهجوم بعد نحو ثلاثة أسابيع من تعرض مئات المتاجر الكبرى في فرنسا، ليلة 11 إلى 12 أكتوبر الماضي، لهجوم سيبراني مماثل استهدف أنظمة التبريد الخاصة بحفظ الأغذية، إذ تمكن قراصنة من التلاعب بإعدادات الثلاجات والمجمدات عن بُعد، ورفع درجات حرارة بعضها إلى 50 درجة مئوية، فيما وصلت الحرارة في بعض المعدات إلى 80 درجة.
وتسبب الهجوم في إتلاف أطنان من المواد الغذائية المجمدة والمبردة، واضطرت متاجر إلى التخلص من مخزوناتها وإغلاق أبوابها مؤقتاً، وسط تقديرات بخسائر بلغت ملايين اليوروهات.
وكشفت التحقيقات أن الهجوم استغل ثغرة في برمجيات للتحكم بأنظمة التبريد تابعة لشركة «دانفوس» الدنماركية، فيما فتحت النيابة العامة في باريس تحقيقاً لتحديد المسؤولين عن الهجوم وحصر الأضرار.
وشهدت دول أوروبية أخرى مطلع نوفمبر هجمات مماثلة استهدفت أنظمة تبريد المتاجر، غير أن السلطات لم تثبت حتى الآن وجود ارتباط مباشر بين هذه الهجمات واستهداف منشآت المؤسسة الفرنسية للدم.
The facilities belonging to the French Blood Establishment were subjected to a cyber attack targeting the control systems of refrigeration rooms designated for storing plasma and blood products, as hackers attempted to raise the temperatures of the refrigerators to extremely high levels, threatening to damage medical supplies, before the alarm systems managed to detect and thwart the attack.
The French Blood Establishment confirmed that the attack occurred last (Monday), affecting the monitoring and operation systems of refrigeration rooms at three of its locations, without any damage recorded to blood products or health impacts on patients.
According to the French newspaper “Le Canard Enchaîné,” the attackers attempted to remotely reprogram the cooling systems to raise temperatures from -30 degrees Celsius to 110 degrees Celsius, in an effort to disrupt the storage conditions necessary for preserving plasma and medical samples.
The establishment clarified that the monitoring and alarm systems quickly detected the abnormal changes, allowing technical teams to intervene and take preventive measures, which included securing plasma bags and transferring some to other facilities, confirming that no blood products were lost and that blood collection and distribution operations to hospitals were not disrupted.
Initial investigations indicated that the attack targeted cooling systems managed by an external service provider, rather than the establishment’s internal systems directly.
For its part, the company “Coolworld,” which supplies cooling equipment, confirmed that the incident was related to a breach of software for managing cooling systems provided by a third party, and that a limited number of its units were affected by the attack.
The French authorities announced measures to secure the affected equipment and tighten monitoring of the cooling systems, while investigations continue to determine how the attack was carried out and the extent of the affected systems.
This attack comes about three weeks after hundreds of major stores in France were subjected to a similar cyber attack on the night of October 11 to 12, targeting the refrigeration systems for food storage, where hackers managed to manipulate the settings of refrigerators and freezers remotely, raising the temperatures of some to 50 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in some equipment reached 80 degrees.
The attack resulted in the destruction of tons of frozen and refrigerated food items, forcing stores to dispose of their inventories and temporarily close their doors, amid estimates of losses amounting to millions of euros.
Investigations revealed that the attack exploited a vulnerability in the software controlling the cooling systems belonging to the Danish company “Danfoss,” while the Paris public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation to identify those responsible for the attack and assess the damages.
Other European countries also witnessed similar attacks targeting store cooling systems in early November; however, authorities have not yet established any direct connection between these attacks and the targeting of the French Blood Establishment’s facilities.
