In a story that seemed to have come straight out of the pages of a novel, an American received a letter from his late mother 71 years after it was sent, arriving at an extraordinary time coinciding with his preparations to enter the golden cage.
The letter bore a postmark dated October 26, 1955, before it unexpectedly reappeared inside a church in Alameda, California. With no recent information about its sender, efforts began to search for the son, involving the church pastor, local researchers, and social media users, until his identity was traced to Michigan.
The story sparked widespread interest, especially since the letter had traveled for more than seven decades before reaching its final destination, while the United States Postal Service suggested that it might have been part of old correspondence mistakenly re-entered into the distribution system or during sorting operations.
