رحل سعيد السريحي -يرحمه الله- سريعًا، تاركًا أثرًا بالغ التأثير. لم يكن سعيد طيفًا عابرًا، بل نقشًا أصيلًا عبقريًا في فنّه. عرفته منذ زمن طويل فتىً مهوسًا بعالم لم يكن يعيشه أقرانه. مشروع مدرسة تجد في بناء أساسها. كان لا يكاد يلهو رغم حب الفكاهة والظرافة. صاخب لا يتكلم، ومفوّه يكتب تاريخًا بصمت مطبق. سعيد السريحي صاحب مشروع تجاوز فيه النقد الأدبي التقليدي إلى «نقد الثقافة»؛ ففكك الخطابات السائدة حول مفاهيم مثل الكرم (كتاب «حجاب العادة») والقهوة (كتاب «غواية الاسم»)، كاشفًا عن الأبعاد الأيديولوجية والاجتماعية المضمرة فيها. كتابه «الكتابة خارج الأقواس» الذي هو في حقيقته شعاره الفكري، حيث دعا فيه إلى تجاوز الأطر الفكرية والتقليدية المغلقة (الأقواس) نحو آفاق أكثر اتساعًا وحرية، معتمدًا في سيرته الذاتية أسلوبًا يتجاوز الواقعية نحو «التخييل الذاتي». يمزج بين الواقعي والمتخيّل في كتابة الذات، متجاوزًا الشكل التقليدي للسيرة. سعيد السريحي مدرسة فكرية قلّ أن يجود الزمان بمثلها. ولأنها كذلك فقد حورب من أهل الغفوة في وقت كانت لهم السطوة والكلمة.

المدارس الفكرية لا يرهبها التخويف والترويع والإفزاع. وهذا ديدن السريحي، فقد عُرف الراحل بمواقفه الصريحة، وأشهرها قضية منعه من درجة الدكتوراه من جامعة أم القرى (1989) بسبب أطروحته «حركة التجديد في اللغة الشعرية»، بقرار مثير للجدل، مما جعله أيقونة للصراع بين التقليد والتجديد.

الدكتور والمفكر سعيد السريحي المدرسة التي سيخلّدها الزمان، التي انتقلت من تحليل النص الأدبي إلى تفكيك «المقدس الثقافي» الذي يحكم مجتمعه. إن التفكيك الأركيولوجي الذي شغل الدكتور السريحي جعله يحفر في الظواهر اليومية (كالكرم والقهوة) ليكشف عن خلفياتها السلطوية.

لقد أحسنت صنعًا مؤسسة «عبق الثقافة» بالتعاون مع جمعية الأدب المهنية بعمل أمسية التلويحة الأخيرة لتأبين الراحل الدكتور سعيد السريحي رحمه الله. في هذه الأمسية سعى القائمون عليها إلى إلقاء الضوء على جوهر عبقرية السريحي الذي لم يطبّق المناهج الغربية (مثل التفكيكية) تقليدًا، بل أسّس منهجًا هجينًا: مزج الأصالة بالمعاصرة؛ استلهم من التراث البلاغي العربي، خاصة نظرية عبدالقاهر الجرجاني في النظم، ودمجها مع الرؤى النقدية الحديثة. هذا جعله يتجاوز الانبهار «بالغرب» أو التقييد بـ«التراث». في نقده الثقافة كإستراتيجية تحوّل من «نقد الشعر» إلى «نقد الخطابات» التي تشكّل الوعي الجمعي، وهو ما يسميه الباحثون «الأسس المنهجية وتحوّلاتها» في خطابه.

الدكتور السريحي كان «محوريًا في تشكيل الخطاب النقدي في السعودية». لم يكن يعمل بمفرده، بل أسّس مع جيله (جيل السبعينيات والثمانينيات) ما يمكن تسميته «حداثة نقدية مؤجلة»، حيث كسروا حاجز «النقد الانطباعي» نحو «النقد العلمي».

وختامًا، التلويحة وحدها لا تكفي. فالدكتور السريحي ليس بحاجة إلى تأبين عابر، بل إلى مؤسسة حقيقية تتبنى مدرسته الفكرية. إن منهجه الهجين، الذي مزج بين أصالة الجرجاني وحداثة فوكو، وأسّس لعلم «أركيولوجيا الثقافة»، يستحق أن يدرّس في الأقسام الأكاديمية، وأن تخصّص له ورش عمل ومطبوعات. نأمل من وزارة الثقافة – ممثلة بهيئة الأدب والنشر والترجمة – أن تطلق «مشروع السريحي للتجديد النقدي»، تخليدًا لرجل قضى عمره خارج الأقواس، ليُدخل الأجيال القادمة إلى فضاءات النقد والتنوير.. رحم الله الفقيد الذي يستحق أن تدرس مدرسته الفكرية.

Saed Al-Surahi -may God have mercy on him- departed quickly, leaving a profoundly impactful legacy. Saed was not a fleeting shadow, but rather a genuine, brilliant imprint in his art. I have known him for a long time as a boy obsessed with a world that his peers did not inhabit. He was a project of a school that you find in the foundation of its construction. He hardly played despite his love for humor and wit. He was loud without speaking, and eloquent in writing a history in complete silence. Saed Al-Surahi was the owner of a project that transcended traditional literary criticism to “cultural criticism”; he deconstructed the prevailing discourses around concepts such as generosity (in the book “The Veil of Habit”) and coffee (in the book “The Temptation of the Name”), revealing the ideological and social dimensions embedded within them. His book “Writing Outside the Parentheses,” which is in fact his intellectual motto, called for transcending closed intellectual and traditional frameworks (the parentheses) towards broader and freer horizons, relying in his autobiography on a style that goes beyond realism towards “self-imagining.” He blends the real and the imagined in writing the self, surpassing the traditional form of autobiography. Saed Al-Surahi is an intellectual school that time rarely grants us. And because of this, he was fought against by those in slumber at a time when they held power and voice.

Intellectual schools are not intimidated by threats and terror. This is the essence of Al-Surahi, as the late scholar was known for his frank positions, the most famous being his denial of a doctorate degree from Umm Al-Qura University (1989) due to his thesis “The Movement of Renewal in Poetic Language,” a controversial decision that made him an icon of the struggle between tradition and renewal.

Dr. and thinker Saed Al-Surahi is a school that time will immortalize, having transitioned from analyzing literary texts to deconstructing the “cultural sacred” that governs his society. The archaeological deconstruction that occupied Dr. Al-Surahi made him dig into daily phenomena (such as generosity and coffee) to uncover their authoritative backgrounds.

The “Abaq Al-Thaqafa” Foundation, in collaboration with the Professional Literature Association, did well to organize the last farewell evening to commemorate the late Dr. Saed Al-Surahi, may God have mercy on him. In this evening, the organizers sought to shed light on the essence of Al-Surahi’s genius, who did not apply Western methodologies (such as deconstruction) as a mere imitation, but rather established a hybrid methodology: blending authenticity with modernity; drawing inspiration from Arabic rhetorical heritage, especially Abdul Qahir Al-Jurjani’s theory of composition, and integrating it with modern critical perspectives. This allowed him to transcend the fascination with “the West” or the confinement to “heritage.” In his critique of culture as a strategy, he transformed from “poetic criticism” to “discourse criticism” that shapes collective consciousness, which researchers refer to as “methodological foundations and their transformations” in his discourse.

Dr. Al-Surahi was “central in shaping the critical discourse in Saudi Arabia.” He did not work alone, but rather established, along with his generation (the generation of the seventies and eighties), what can be called “deferred critical modernity,” where they broke the barrier of “impressionistic criticism” towards “scientific criticism.”

In conclusion, a mere farewell is not enough. Dr. Al-Surahi does not need a fleeting eulogy, but rather a genuine institution that adopts his intellectual school. His hybrid methodology, which blended the authenticity of Al-Jurjani with the modernity of Foucault, and established the science of “archaeology of culture,” deserves to be taught in academic departments, and to have workshops and publications dedicated to it. We hope that the Ministry of Culture – represented by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Authority – will launch the “Al-Surahi Project for Critical Renewal,” in commemoration of a man who spent his life outside the parentheses, to introduce future generations to the realms of criticism and enlightenment.. May God have mercy on the deceased who deserves for his intellectual school to be studied.
