The sports director of Bayern Munich, Max Eberl, confirmed that the team’s coach, Vincent Kompany, will be absent from leading the Bavarian giant for several weeks after suffering a health setback.
Coach Vincent Kompany fainted yesterday, Friday, and was subsequently taken to the hospital, just days after contracting a viral infection.
Absence for Several Weeks
Eberl stated in comments reported by the German newspaper “Bild”: “Kompany will be given the time he needs, and we will not start setting any time frames, but we are not talking about days, but about weeks, and this should be clear to everyone.”
He added: “The good news is that Kompany’s condition is stable. I spoke with him last night, as well as with his wife. It was not a good moment for all of us, as he collapsed and fell to the ground, and he was taken to the hospital, where he will remain for a few more days.”
Kompany’s Health Comes First
He concluded his remarks by saying: “This reaffirms once again that football is not the most important thing in life. We at Bayern Munich stand together, and the most important thing is to understand the reason for what happened to Vinnie and for him to recover. Only then can he return, and the biggest task will be to protect him from himself to some extent.”
Danks Takes Over Temporarily
Assistant coach Aaron Danks will temporarily lead the team, and the English coach has previous experience in this role, having stepped in for Kompany last season in the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
