Abha enters its match against Al-Faisaly tomorrow (Sunday) at 6:25 PM at the Damak Club Stadium in Khamis Mushait, as part of the eighth round of the Roshan Saudi League, amidst a state of dissatisfaction among the fans of the “Leader of the South” regarding the levels the team has been presenting, as it only has two points in its tally and sits at the 18th position. The fans are looking forward to a different performance that restores confidence in the team and confirms its ability to compete, while technical critics emphasized through “Okaz” the necessity of achieving victory and collecting the three points.
Modest Results
Asian lecturer Abdullah Al-Mani said: “The match carries great importance for Abha, which has only two points out of a possible 21, and its significance is not limited to the result alone, but extends to performance, fighting spirit, and tactical discipline, as the team needs a strong reaction that reflects the ambitions of its fans and gives it a moral boost in the upcoming stage.”
He added: “The pressure on the team is increasing in light of its modest results, as it has not achieved any victory in its last seven matches, settling for two draws against five losses, which reflects the magnitude of the challenge it faces before the match against Al-Faisaly.”
Addressing Defensive Errors
Former Abha player Mohammed Abu Arad clarified that what is required from the team is no longer just to present an acceptable level, but to achieve a result that restores balance to it, emphasizing the need to address defensive errors, increase offensive effectiveness, and improve the investment of opportunities. He pointed out that mental presence and discipline throughout the match will be important factors in facing Al-Faisaly.
Avoiding Offensive Rush at the Expense of Defensive Balance
Asian lecturer Dr. Yahya Jabir confirmed that Abha needs to appear more cohesive by enhancing defensive discipline, improving the build-up of attacks, and reducing errors that give the opponent opportunities to reach the goal. He also emphasized the importance of capitalizing on available opportunities and not wasting them, especially in matches where levels are close.
He added that dealing with Al-Faisaly requires a good reading of strengths and weaknesses, avoiding an offensive rush at the expense of defensive balance, in addition to imposing the team’s personality on the field and controlling the rhythm of the match.
