The participation of the accused striker with his team Al-Ahli against Al-Shabab, next Friday at 9:00 PM, at the Al-Shabab Club stadium in Riyadh, as part of the 12th round of the Roshen Saudi Professional League, is contingent upon the club management’s success in arranging his return from the British capital London to Riyadh directly, following his appearance before the English court regarding the assault charges against him.
According to information obtained by “Okaz,” Al-Ahli’s management is working to ensure the player’s timely arrival in Riyadh, allowing him to join the match and participate if he is fully fit. However, his absence from the game is possible if he cannot arrive before the match, due to the tight schedule between the court session and the start of the game.
The details of the case date back to December 6, 2025, when the accused was charged with assaulting a person named Saber Da Silva inside a nightclub on Wardour Street in Soho, central London. The accusations included headbutting and punches to the complainant, which, according to the prosecution, resulted in injuries to his nose and one of his fingers.
Last December, “Okaz” published details of the incident, citing the British newspaper “The Sun,” which indicated that the incident began when someone attempted to take a photo with the player, before escalating into an alleged altercation that required the intervention of the British police.
The 30-year-old accused appeared before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in early October, where he denied the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm and chose to refer the case to the Southwark Crown Court for consideration before a judge and jury. He was released on unconditional bail, with the requirement to attend the specified court sessions.
The player is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow (Thursday) October 29, before the Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab match, which presents the club management with a challenge regarding the arrangements for his travel and return to Riyadh.
Regarding the potential penalty, a financial fine is among the possibilities if the player is convicted. However, the determination of the final penalty remains the jurisdiction of the British judiciary, depending on the circumstances of the case and the outcome of the legal proceedings, with no final ruling issued thus far.
The administrative and technical staff at Al-Ahli are closely monitoring the developments of the case and the timing of the accused’s return to finalize his status for the match against Al-Shabab, especially given the player’s importance among the team’s offensive options and Al-Ahli’s pursuit of continuing their positive results in the Roshen Saudi League.
