تحولت رحلة استكشافية حالمة إلى فاجعة مأساوية في شمال باكستان، بعدما لقي سبعة أشخاص على الأقل حتفهم إثر سقوط سيارة جيب سياحية في وادٍ عميق، بينما كانوا في طريقهم إلى منطقة «فيري ميدوز» (مروج الجنيات) الشهيرة، لتسجل جبال الهيمالايا فصلاً جديداً من فصول حوادث الطرق الجبلية الوعرة.
انحراف مفاجئ
وفي تفاصيل الحادثة التي كشفت عنها شرطة منطقة «جيلجيت بالتستان»، فإن المركبة التي كانت تقل فوجاً سياحياً انحرفت بشكل مفاجئ عن مسارها على طريق «تاتو رايكوت» الوعر بمدينة تشيلاس. ولم تتوقف السيارة إلا بعد السقوط في قاع المنحدر السحيق، حيث جرفتها المياه المتدفقة في الوادي، ما قلل من فرص نجاة من كانوا على متنها.
وفور تلقي البلاغ، هرعت فرق الإنقاذ والدفاع المدني إلى الموقع الصعب، وباشرت عمليات بحث مضنية وسط تضاريس قاسية ومياه جارية، لتسفر الجهود لاحقاً عن انتشال جثامين الضحايا السبعة الذين استسلموا لقسوة الارتطام والمياه.
غموض حول الأسباب
الجهات الأمنية والطبية في الموقع واصلت لساعات طيران عمليات نقل الجثث إلى المستشفيات القريبة لاتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة والتعرف على هويات الضحايا بدقة لإبلاغ ذويهم، في وقت فرضت السلطات طوقاً حول مكان الحادث لفتح تحقيق موسع، ممتنعة عن الإدلاء بأي تفاصيل إضافية حول ما إذا كان الحادث ناتجاً عن خلل فني في المركبة أم خطأ بشري ناجم عن طبيعة الطريق الملتوي.

وتعيد هذه الفاجعة تسليط الضوء على مفارقة خطيرة تشهدها السياحة الباكستانية؛ فمنطقة «فيري ميدوز» – المعروفة محلياً باسم «جوت» – تتربع كواحدة من أجمل الوجهات البكر في العالم وسط أحضان جبال الهيمالايا ووادي رايكوت، وتجذب آلاف المغامرين سنوياً.

A dreamy exploratory journey turned into a tragic disaster in northern Pakistan, after at least seven people lost their lives when a tourist jeep fell into a deep valley while they were on their way to the famous “Fairy Meadows,” marking a new chapter in the history of treacherous mountain road accidents in the Himalayas.
Sudden deviation
According to details of the incident revealed by the police in the “Gilgit-Baltistan” region, the vehicle carrying a group of tourists suddenly deviated from its path on the treacherous “Tattoo Raikot” road in the city of Chilas. The vehicle did not stop until it fell to the bottom of the steep slope, where it was swept away by the flowing waters in the valley, reducing the chances of survival for those on board.
Upon receiving the report, rescue and civil defense teams rushed to the difficult site and began arduous search operations amidst harsh terrain and flowing water, ultimately leading to the recovery of the bodies of the seven victims who succumbed to the brutality of the impact and the water.
Uncertainty about the causes
The security and medical authorities at the site continued for hours to transport the bodies to nearby hospitals to take the necessary measures and accurately identify the victims to inform their families, while the authorities imposed a cordon around the accident site to open an extensive investigation, refraining from providing any additional details about whether the accident was due to a technical malfunction in the vehicle or human error resulting from the winding nature of the road.

This tragedy brings to light a dangerous paradox faced by Pakistani tourism; the “Fairy Meadows” area – locally known as “Jut” – stands as one of the most beautiful pristine destinations in the world, nestled in the embrace of the Himalayas and the Raikot Valley, attracting thousands of adventurers annually.
However, this beauty conceals a harsh price; the mountain road leading to it is globally classified as one of the most dangerous traffic routes on Earth, due to its extreme narrowness, lack of protective barriers, and the ruggedness of its unpaved curves, making the journey there a breathtaking adventure that can sometimes end in tragedy.
