قررت السلطات الإيطالية إلغاء حفلتين غنائيتين كان من المقرر أن يحييهما مغنيا الراب الأمريكيان كاني ويست وترافيس سكوت خلال يوليو القادم في مدينة ريجيو إميليا شمال البلاد، وذلك بسبب مخاوف تتعلق بالأمن والنظام العام.
وأعلن المحافظ المحلي سالفاتوري أنجيري أن قرار الإلغاء جاء بعد تقييم أمني أخذ في الاعتبار احتمالية اندلاع احتجاجات وتحديات تنظيمية مرتبطة بالحدثين، خصوصاً مع توقع حضور جماهيري كثيف خلال فترة زمنية قصيرة.
وكان من المقرر أن يحيي ترافيس سكوت حفلة ضمن فعاليات مهرجان نبض غايا يوم 17 يوليو في ساحة آر سي إف، التي تتسع لأكثر من 100 ألف متفرج، على أن يعتلي كانييه ويست المسرح في اليوم التالي مباشرة.
وجاء القرار استجابةً لطلبات تقدمت بها منظمة حماية المستهلك الإيطالية CODACONS، إلى جانب ممثلين عن الجالية اليهودية في منطقتي مودينا وريجو إيميليا، الذين أعربوا عن مخاوف خاصة تتعلق بظهور ويست بسبب تصريحاته المثيرة للجدل خلال السنوات الماضية.
ويواجه كانييه ويست، المعروف أيضاً باسم «يي»، موجة من الإلغاءات في عدد من الدول الأوروبية عقب تصريحات اعتُبرت معادية للسامية، شملت إشادات سابقة بالزعيم النازي ادولف هتلر واستخدام رموز وصور مرتبطة بالنازية في بعض أعماله ومحتواه الإعلامي.
من جهة أخرى، لا يزال ترافيس سكوت يواجه تدقيقاً متواصلاً بشأن معايير السلامة في حفلاته منذ حادثة التدافع المأساوية التي وقعت خلال مهرجان أستروورلد عام 2021 في مدينة هيوستن، وأسفرت عن مقتل 10 أشخاص وإصابة المئات.
وأوضحت السلطات الإيطالية أن تزامن الحفلتين وتوقع تدفق أعداد ضخمة من الجماهير خلال أقل من 24 ساعة شكّلا عاملين رئيسيين في اتخاذ قرار المنع، إلى جانب ما وصفته بـ«الخطر الملموس» لاندلاع احتجاجات.
وكانت عدة دول أوروبية قد اتخذت إجراءات مماثلة بحق ويست خلال الأشهر الأخيرة؛ إذ رفضت المملكة المتحدة دخوله في أبريل الماضي، فيما تأجلت حفلة له في مارسيليا بعد تقارير تحدثت عن مساعٍ حكومية فرنسية لمنعه، كما أُلغيت حفلات أخرى كانت مقررة في بولندا وسويسرا.
ورغم هذه القيود، يواصل ويست إحياء حفلاته في الدول التي تسمح له بالدخول، حيث كان من المقرر أن يحيي حفلة في إسطنبول، كما يستعد لإقامة عروض فنية في هولندا خلال الشهر القادم بعد تأكيد السلطات الهولندية عدم وجود أساس قانوني يمنع دخوله.
ولم يصدر حتى الآن أي تعليق رسمي من كانييه ويست أو ترافيس سكوت أو منظمي الفعالية في إيطاليا بشأن قرار الإلغاء.
The Italian authorities have decided to cancel two concerts that were scheduled to be performed by American rappers Kanye West and Travis Scott next July in the city of Reggio Emilia in the north of the country, due to security and public order concerns.
Local governor Salvatore Angieri announced that the cancellation decision came after a security assessment that took into account the possibility of protests and organizational challenges related to the events, especially with the expectation of a large audience presence in a short time frame.
Travis Scott was set to perform at the Gaia Pulse Festival on July 17 at the RCF Arena, which accommodates more than 100,000 spectators, with Kanye West scheduled to take the stage the very next day.
The decision came in response to requests made by the Italian consumer protection organization CODACONS, along with representatives from the Jewish community in the Modena and Reggio Emilia areas, who expressed specific concerns regarding West’s appearance due to his controversial statements over the past years.
Kanye West, also known as “Ye,” is facing a wave of cancellations in several European countries following statements deemed anti-Semitic, including previous praises for Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and the use of symbols and imagery associated with Nazism in some of his works and media content.
On the other hand, Travis Scott continues to face ongoing scrutiny regarding safety standards at his concerts since the tragic crowd surge incident that occurred during the Astroworld Festival in 2021 in Houston, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to hundreds.
The Italian authorities clarified that the overlap of the two concerts and the expectation of a massive influx of crowds within less than 24 hours were key factors in the decision to prohibit the events, along with what they described as a “tangible risk” of protests erupting.
Several European countries have taken similar actions against West in recent months; the United Kingdom denied him entry last April, while a concert in Marseille was postponed after reports of French government efforts to prevent him, and other concerts scheduled in Poland and Switzerland were canceled.
Despite these restrictions, West continues to perform in countries that allow him entry, as he was scheduled to hold a concert in Istanbul and is preparing to stage art shows in the Netherlands next month after Dutch authorities confirmed there was no legal basis to prevent his entry.
No official comment has yet been issued by Kanye West, Travis Scott, or the event organizers in Italy regarding the cancellation decision.
