The coach of Al-Dhariyah supported the observation made by “Okaz” regarding his reliance on advanced defense against Al-Ittihad and the spaces it left, but he confirmed that Al-Ittihad did not capitalize on those spaces as required, in the match that brought them together at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, as part of the eleventh round of the Saudi Professional League, which they lost with a score of (2-0).
He clarified in response to a question from “Okaz” about the absence of a defensive shield and the advancement of the full-backs, that Al-Ittihad’s two goals came from building play from the back, where the first attack started from the back until the goal was scored, while the second came from a similar attack that ended with a penalty kick.
Bruno considered the repeated phrase “Hard luck” from Jeddah’s media as evidence that his team delivered a strong match.
He explained that the team reached readiness despite traveling long distances by land and playing seven matches over three days, adding: “We knew we would face a strong team on their home ground and among their fans, yet we showed a strong character.”
He concluded by emphasizing the need to work on avoiding mistakes, pointing out that speeding up the pace of play was aimed at creating opportunities, but some simple individual errors were exploited by Al-Ittihad to secure the match.
