An informed source revealed to “Okaz” that the acquisition process of Al-Ittihad Club, and the transfer of 70% ownership from the Public Investment Fund to a new owner, is subject to a fundamental condition that involves a financial partnership between a foreign investor and a local investor, as requested by the entity owning the club’s company.
The source emphasized that the proposed arrangements do not allow for either the foreign or local investor to have full ownership, confirming that progress has been made in completing the acquisition file between the two parties, with details to be announced soon.
He explained that there are movements, particularly taking place these days under complete secrecy, pointing out that what is being circulated in the media and on social media platforms regarding this file does not reflect the accurate picture of what is happening, indicating that the reality differs from what is currently being discussed.
He added that the investment file is being managed by a local company according to standards and conditions presented to investors, and that the transfer of the club’s ownership is close to being announced, after reaching a final agreement on those standards that the new owners must adhere to and implement.
The source indicated that one of the major Al-Ittihad families is close to acquiring a stake in the club, in partnership with a foreign investor, in a deal that could reach a value of 800 million riyals, stressing that these arrangements are being made in agreement with the entity owning Al-Ittihad Club.
