أعلن الرئيس التنفيذي لعملاق التعدين السعودي شركة «معادن» بوب ويلت أن الشركة المملوكة للحكومة السعودية ستستثمر 110 مليارات من الدولارات خلال العقد القادم، ما سيؤدي الى التوسع في إنتاج الفوسفات، والألومنيوم، والذهب، فيما تتطلع «معادن» لأن تصبح إحدى أكبر شركات العالم المنتجة للسلع.
وأوضح ويلت- في مقابلة مع موقع «سيمافور» الإخباري الأمريكي أمس- أن خطط الاستثمار الخاصة بـ«معادن» ستؤدي الى زيادة إنتاجها لثلاثة أضعاف من الفوسفات والذهب، فيما سيتضاعف إنتاجها من الألومنيوم. وقال: لذلك نقوم بنشر رأس المال بسرعة غير مسبوقة. وزاد أن «معادن» تخطط لتنفيذ 8 مشاريع عملاقة، اثنان منها قيد التنفيذ حالياً، و 6 منها في مراحل مختلفة من التخطيط. وأشار إلى أن لـ«معادن» مشروعاً مشتركاً مع شركة «ام بي ماتيريالز»، التي تعتبر الحكومة الأمريكية أحد أكبر حملة أسهمها؛ فيما ستقوم وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية ببناء مصفاة لتنقية المعادن الأرضية النادرة، لتزويد الصناعة الدفاعية بحاجتها من تلك المعادن. وأشار إلى أن مشروع المصفاة تم إعلانه خلال زيارة ولي العهد الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبد العزيز لواشنطن في نوفمبر 2025. وأعلن ويلت أن «معادن» تعمل ليل نهار على خطتها الاستثمارية. وقال إن القرار بهذا الشأن سيُعلن بحلول نهاية العام الحالي. وتوقع أن تسهم مصفاة المعادن النادرة في تلبية حاجة الولايات المتحدة إلى تلك المعادن، التي تعد عنصراً أساسياً في صنع الأنظمة الدفاعية الحديثة. وأضاف أن استثمارات «معادن» ستساعد ميزان المدفوعات السعودي، من خلال زيادة صادرات المملكة من الفوسفات، وتقليص واردتها من الألومنيوم، في وقت تتوسّع فيه المملكة توسُّعاً كبيراً في بناء مراكز البيانات، والمساكن، والملاعب الرياضية، ومشاريع البنية الأساسية، في سياق سعيها الى تنويع اقتصادها. وقال ويلت: نريد أن نكون بارزين عالمياً. ولا يعني ذلك أن نصبح أكبر شركة تعدين في العالم؛ لكننا نريد أن نوفر المعادن بشكل يُحْدِثُ تأثيراً إستراتيجياً، يعزز الناتج المحلي الإجمالي، ويساعد ميزان المدفوعات السعودي. وزاد: سنكون إحدى أكبر شركات التعدين على مستوى العالم خلال عقد من الزمان.
يذكر أن السعودية أعلنت أنه تم التحقق من وجود معادن داخل المملكة بما تصل قيمته الى 2.5 تريليون دولار. وأشار ويلت إلى أن خطط «معادن» الاستثمارية ستضطرها إلى طرق أبواب أسواق الديْن العالمية، بعدما طرحت العام الماضي سندات بـ 1.25 مليار دولار. وأضاف أن «معادن» ستواصل التعاون مع كل من الولايات والصين. وقال: سنحاول الحصول على أفضل ما لدى الصين من خبرة وكفاءة. وسنظل في الوقت نفسه متحالفين إستراتيجياً مع الولايات المتحدة بشأن المعادن الحاسمة الأهمية. وأشار ويلت الى أن «معادن» ستركّز حالياً على البحث عن النحاس، بعدما أعلنت الأسبوع الماضي أنها اكتشفت 7.8 مليون أوقية (أونصة) من هذا المعدن الثمين.
The CEO of the Saudi mining giant Ma’aden, Bob Wilt, announced that the government-owned company will invest $110 billion over the next decade, which will lead to an expansion in the production of phosphate, aluminum, and gold, as Ma’aden aims to become one of the world’s largest commodity producers.
Wilt explained in an interview with the American news site Semafor yesterday that Ma’aden’s investment plans will triple its production of phosphate and gold, while its aluminum production will double. He said: “Therefore, we are deploying capital at an unprecedented pace.” He added that Ma’aden plans to implement 8 mega-projects, two of which are currently underway, and 6 of which are in various stages of planning. He noted that Ma’aden has a joint venture with MP Materials, which the U.S. government considers one of its largest shareholders; the U.S. Department of Defense will build a refinery to purify rare earth metals to supply the defense industry with its needs for those metals. He pointed out that the refinery project was announced during Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz’s visit to Washington in November 2025. Wilt announced that Ma’aden is working around the clock on its investment plan. He said that a decision regarding this matter will be announced by the end of this year. He expected that the rare metals refinery would help meet the United States’ need for those metals, which are essential in the manufacture of modern defense systems. He added that Ma’aden’s investments will assist the Saudi balance of payments by increasing the Kingdom’s phosphate exports and reducing its aluminum imports, at a time when the Kingdom is significantly expanding the construction of data centers, housing, sports facilities, and infrastructure projects, in its quest to diversify its economy. Wilt stated: “We want to be globally prominent. This does not mean becoming the largest mining company in the world; rather, we want to provide minerals in a way that creates a strategic impact, enhances GDP, and helps the Saudi balance of payments.” He added: “We will be one of the largest mining companies in the world within a decade.”
It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabia has announced that the presence of minerals within the Kingdom has been verified to be worth up to $2.5 trillion. Wilt indicated that Ma’aden’s investment plans will force it to knock on the doors of global debt markets, after issuing bonds worth $1.25 billion last year. He added that Ma’aden will continue to cooperate with both the U.S. and China. He said: “We will try to obtain the best expertise and efficiency from China. At the same time, we will remain strategically allied with the United States regarding critical minerals.” Wilt pointed out that Ma’aden will currently focus on searching for copper, after announcing last week that it discovered 7.8 million ounces of this precious metal.
