From the stands filled with the colors of various clubs to a national flag that unites everyone, the Culture and Arts Association in Jeddah celebrated the Saudi national team fans’ association on Saturday evening with an event titled “Stadium Singing… Art and Culture of the Nation,” held at the association’s theater following the green team’s victory in the Gulf Cup. The event was attended by a selection of sports, cultural, artistic, and media figures, in a night that evoked memories of Saudi victories and highlighted the presence of popular heritage and performing arts in sports stadiums.
The evening carried a cultural and national message that transcended the boundaries of sports competition, revealing the role of the stands in presenting Saudi folklore, performing arts, and popular chants, along with visual formations that reflect the identity of the Kingdom and the richness of its heritage. It also emphasized its role in gathering fans around values of belonging, brotherhood, and rejecting sports fanaticism.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of artist Talal Salama, who participated with the fans’ association members in performing his famous song “Allah Allah Ya Muntakhabna,” recalling its story and memories linked to Saudi sports achievements since 1984, the year the national team won its first Asian title. The audience interacted with the song that accompanied the joys of the green team, bringing back memories of key moments in Saudi football history.
The members of the association presented a collection of national and sports songs and chants, as well as performing arts derived from popular heritage, amidst the audience’s engagement, in scenes that brought the atmosphere of Saudi stadiums back to the stage and highlighted the role of fans in motivating players and accompanying the national team during its achievements.
The message of brotherhood was not absent from the evening, as the association members confirmed that each of them has an affiliation to a sports club, but before and after competition, they are brothers united by love for the nation, and that the differences in club colors have no place when everyone wears the color of the Saudi national team. They emphasized that their message goes beyond supporting the players; it extends to combating fanaticism and establishing mutual respect among fans, so that competition remains on the field while brotherhood persists outside it.
The evening was attended by sports commentator Ghazi Sadka and novelist Abdu Khal, who affirmed that the event carries national, cultural, and social meanings that transcend sports, reflecting the connection between the arts and the popular sentiment and their role in enhancing identity and belonging.
For his part, the director of the Culture and Arts Association in Jeddah, Mohammed Al-Sabih, confirmed that the message of culture extends to sports stands, where the identity of the nation is manifested in its arts, heritage, and the values of its children. He pointed out that what the Saudi national team fans’ association presents is at the core of cultural and artistic work, through performing arts, popular folklore, and national chants, alongside visual arts and crowd formations that have become part of the Saudi sports scene.
