The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khuraiji, participated today (Wednesday) in the sixth consultative meeting on enhancing the coordination of initiatives and efforts for peace in Sudan, held in the Swiss city of Geneva.
He delivered a speech in which he affirmed the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire, preserve the unity of Sudan, and protect its state institutions from collapse, noting that these efforts are based on the Jeddah Declaration to commit to protecting civilians signed on May 11, 2023, and the short-term ceasefire agreement.
He stated that the Kingdom supports the initiative of the Quintet Group and other regional and international efforts to reach a political solution that preserves Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of supporting the Sudanese government in its efforts to facilitate Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue within Sudan.
He affirmed that there can be no comparison between the Sudanese government and the Sovereignty Council and the militias that have committed crimes against the brotherly Sudanese people, reiterating the rejection of parallel entities and unlawful actions outside official institutions that affect the unity of Sudan and do not reflect the will of its people.
He mentioned that the Kingdom has announced the provision of one hundred million dollars to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people, and has launched a popular campaign through the “Sahim” platform, which has seen total Saudi aid to Sudan exceed 3.2 billion dollars. Additionally, it provided extra support to Sudan amounting to 145 million US dollars, as part of the humanitarian response plan for Sudan for the year 2026 during its participation in the humanitarian coordination meeting regarding the crisis in Sudan in Berlin on April 15, 2026, confirming the Kingdom’s continued efforts to end the war and restore stability in Sudan.
