بعد إطلاقه عملية واسعة في جنوب لبنان والسيطرة على قلعة الشقيف الإستراتيجية، وجّه الجيش الإسرائيلي اليوم (الأحد) إنذاراً لسكان المناطق الواقعة جنوب نهر الزهراني بإخلاء منازلهم.
وقال الجيش الإسرائيلي إن قواته عبرت نهر الليطاني ووسّعت هجماتها ضد حزب الله إلى شمال النهر، مؤكداً أن العمليات العسكرية تتوسع لتشمل مناطق إضافية.
وأعلن وزير الدفاع الإسرائيلي يسرائيل كاتس أن القوات الإسرائيلية ستبقى في قلعة الشقيف الإستراتيجية، ضمن ما وصفها بـ«المنطقة الأمنية» في جنوب لبنان، مبيناً أن قواته سيطرت على مرتفعات الشقيف وعبرت نهر الليطاني.
واعتبر كاتس أن السيطرة على تلك المواقع الإستراتيجية تمثل أهمية كبيرة لحماية مستوطنات الجليل، مهدداً بـ«سحق قوة حزب الله وإتمام المهمة».
وأضاف: «أعداؤنا سيخسرون مواقعهم الإستراتيجية واحداً تلو الآخر».
من جهته، قال وزير المالية الإسرائيلي بتسلئيل سموتريتش: «وعدنا سكان الشمال بأمن طويل الأمد، ونعمل بحزم لتحقيق ذلك»، معتبراً أن العودة إلى قلعة الشقيف تمثل تصحيحاً لأخطاء قديمة.
وأشار إلى أن تكاليف الحرب باهظة، لكنها ضرورية.
ويأتي ذلك فيما تستعد وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية (البنتاغون) لاستضافة اجتماع ثانٍ بين ممثلي لبنان وإسرائيل بعد غدٍ (الثلاثاء)، عقب جولة المحادثات الأمنية التي عُقدت يوم (الجمعة).
ويسعى الوفد اللبناني إلى التوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف شامل لإطلاق النار في الجنوب، إلا أن إسرائيل تتمسك بضرورة نزع سلاح حزب الله كشرط أساسي لتلبية تلك المطالب.
After launching a wide operation in southern Lebanon and taking control of the strategic Shuqif Castle, the Israeli army today (Sunday) issued a warning to residents of the areas south of the Zahrani River to evacuate their homes.
The Israeli army stated that its forces crossed the Litani River and expanded their attacks against Hezbollah to the north of the river, confirming that military operations are expanding to include additional areas.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Israeli forces will remain at the strategic Shuqif Castle, within what he described as the “security zone” in southern Lebanon, indicating that his forces have taken control of the Shuqif heights and crossed the Litani River.
Katz considered that controlling these strategic sites is of great importance for protecting the settlements in the Galilee, threatening to “crush Hezbollah’s power and complete the mission.”
He added: “Our enemies will lose their strategic positions one after another.”
For his part, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said: “We promised the residents of the north long-term security, and we are working firmly to achieve that,” considering that the return to Shuqif Castle represents a correction of past mistakes.
He noted that the costs of the war are high, but they are necessary.
This comes as the U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) prepares to host a second meeting between representatives of Lebanon and Israel the day after tomorrow (Tuesday), following a round of security talks that took place on (Friday).
The Lebanese delegation is seeking to reach an agreement for a comprehensive ceasefire in the south, but Israel insists on the necessity of disarming Hezbollah as a fundamental condition to meet those demands.
