يستعد منتخبنا الوطني الأول لكرة القدم لتحدّي منافسات مونديال كأس العالم 2026، بهوية جديدة ولاعبين جدد ما بين الخبرة والذين يظهرون للمرة الأولى عالمياً، إذ سبق للأخضر أن شارك في المونديال 6 مرات سابقة، والآن يستعد للمشاركة السابعة، ووقع «الصقور» في مجموعة: إسبانيا، وأوروغواي، والرأس الأخضر، ويتولى زمام الأمور الفنية المدرب اليوناني جورجوس دونيس الذي يأتي خلفاً للفرنسي هيرفي رينارد بعد إقالته في أواخر أبريل الماضي.

يعتبر ظهور الأخضر في مونديال أمريكا 94 أفضل ظهور له تحت قيادة المدرب الأرجنتيني خورخي سولاري، بعدما نجح في العبور إلى دور الـ16 بفضل الفوز على المغرب 2-1 وبلجيكا 1-0 في مرحلة المجموعات، وذلك قبل أن يودع المنافسات بالخسارة أمام السويد بـ1-3.
أعلى الهزائم
من الأمور السيئة لتواجد منتخبنا في مونديال العالم، أنه صاحب أعلى منتخب تلقى خسائر، إذ لعب 19 مباراة، كسب 4 وتعادل بمواجهتين، وخسر 13 لقاء، سجل 14 هدفاً وعليه 44 هدفاً.
انتصارات تاريخية
نجح الأخضر بالمونديال في تحقيق انتصارات تاريخية، بدأت أمام المغرب بهدفين مقابل هدف، وبلجيكا بهدف دون مقابل، وانتصر على مصر بهدفين مقابل هدف، أما الفوز التاريخي الذين لم ولن ينسى الانتصار على منتخب الأرجنتين بهدفين مقابل هدف في مونديال 2022، فيما تعادل بلقائين أمام جنوب أفريقيا وتونس بالنتيجة نفسها 2-2.
خسائر المونديال
على صعيد الخسائر التي تلقاها المنتخب السعودي في مشاركاته بالمونديال كانت أمام كلٍّ من: هولندا، والدنمارك، وفرنسا، وألمانيا، والكاميرون، وإيرلندا، وأوكرانيا، وإسبانيا، وروسيا، وأوروغواي، وبولندا، والمكسيك.
هدافو الأخضر
يتعادل نجما المنتخب السعودي السابق سامي الجابر والقائد الحالي سالم الدوسري في عدد إحراز الأهداف بكأس العالم بثلاثة أهداف لكلٍّ منهما، فؤاد أنور هدفين، وسعيد العويران، وفهد الغشيان، ويوسف الثنيان، وياسر القحطاني، وسلمان الفرج هدف لكل منهم.

Our national football team is preparing to face the challenges of the 2026 World Cup with a new identity and new players, combining experience with those making their global debut. The Green previously participated in the World Cup six times and is now gearing up for its seventh participation. The “Falcons” have been placed in a group with Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde, and the Greek coach Georgios Donis is taking over the technical management, succeeding the French coach Hervé Renard, who was dismissed in late April.
94 Highlights
The Green’s appearance in the 1994 World Cup in the USA is considered its best under the management of Argentine coach Jorge Solari, as they successfully advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating Morocco 2-1 and Belgium 1-0 in the group stage, before being eliminated by Sweden with a score of 1-3.
Worst Defeats
One of the unfortunate aspects of our national team’s World Cup history is that it holds the record for the most losses, having played 19 matches, winning 4, drawing 2, and losing 13, scoring 14 goals and conceding 44.
Historic Victories
The Green has achieved historic victories in the World Cup, starting with a win against Morocco with a score of 2-1, and against Belgium 1-0, as well as defeating Egypt 2-1. The unforgettable historic victory was against Argentina, winning 2-1 in the 2022 World Cup, while they drew twice against South Africa and Tunisia with the same score of 2-2.

Former Saudi national team stars Sami Al-Jaber and current captain Salem Al-Dawsari are tied in the number of goals scored in the World Cup, with three goals each. Fouad Anwar has two goals, while Saeed Al-Owairan, Fahd Al-Ghashayan, Youssef Al-Thunayan, Yasser Al-Qahtani, and Salman Al-Faraj each have one goal.
Most Appearances
The retired Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Deayea holds the record for the most appearances in the World Cup with 10 matches, followed by Sami Al-Jaber and Hussein Abdulghani, who each played 9 matches.
