وصف الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون، اليوم (الخميس)، المفاوضات بين الوفدين اللبناني والإسرائيلي في واشنطن خلال اليومين الماضيين بأنها «صعبة جداً»، موضحاً أنه على تواصل مع الجهات الدولية لتثبيت وقف إطلاق النار.
وقال عون في حديث للصحفيين: «المفاوضات استؤنفت بعد تدخل وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، إثر تعليقها من قبل رئيس الوفد اللبناني سيمون كرم»، مبيناً أن تنفيذ وقف إطلاق النار قد يبدأ خلال 24 ساعة من الموافقة النهائية.
وأشار إلى أن الجانب اللبناني اقترح أن تشمل «المنطقة التجريبية» كمرحلة أولى زوطر الغربية والشرقية وقلعة الشقيف، التي أعلنت إسرائيل قبل أيام السيطرة عليها، مبيناً أنه منذ الساعة الثانية فجراً وهو على تواصل مع الجهات الدولية والداخلية لتثبيت وقف إطلاق النار.
وأضاف أن السلطات اللبنانية تنتظر ردود جميع الأطراف المعنية وضمانات الالتزام بتنفيذ وقف إطلاق النار، مشدداً بالقول: «نعوّل على دور ترمب وإدارته في تنفيذ الاتفاق مع إسرائيل».
ولفت عون إلى أن الاتفاق قد يكون الفرصة الأخيرة، وإلا فليتحمل كل طرف مسؤولياته.
وجاء تصريحات الرئيس اللبناني في الوقت الذي أكدت مصادر أن الجيش بدأ فتح طريق مرجعيون دبين إبل السقي جنوب لبنان.
في المقابل، قال السفير الإسرائيلي لدى الولايات المتحدة، يحيئيل لايتر، أن القوات المسلحة اللبنانية ستتولى السيطرة الحصرية على المناطق التجريبية، موضحاً أن القوات الإسرائيلية في جنوب لبنان ستسمح بـ«مرور آمن» لعناصر حزب الله من أجل الانتقال شمال نهر الليطاني.
واعتبر أن السلام بين إسرائيل ولبنان «لا يمكن تحقيقه إلا إذا تم تحييد هذا الوكيل الإيراني»، مشدداً بالقول:«نحن في طريقنا لتحقيق ذلك».
وأضاف: «إذا كان حزب الله عازماً على تقويض وقف إطلاق النار، فإن العواقب ستقع عليه»، واصفاً اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار، الذي أُعلن عنه مساء أمس بأنه «غير مسبوق نسبياً».
وأشار إلى أن الجولة القادمة من المحادثات ستكون أيضاً على مستوى السفراء، لكنه أكد «أنهم يعملون على عقد لقاء على مستوى القادة».
وكان وزير الدفاع الإسرائيلي يسرائيل كاتس قال في وقت سابق اليوم، إن بلاده ستواصل عملياتها على الأرض في جنوب لبنان في الوقت الراهن على أن يوقف حزب الله كل الهجمات على شمال إسرائيل ويسحب مقاتليه من المنطقة الواقعة جنوب نهر الليطاني.
وقال كاتس في بيان إن «الجيش الإسرائيلي سيبقى في مناطق واسعة من الجنوب اللبناني».
ميدانياً، كثفت إسرائيل غاراتها على بلدات الجنوب اللبناني رغم الإعلان عن اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار، وبحسب شهود عيان، فإن الغارات استهدفت محيط سد القرعون وسحمر وقليا في البقاع الغربي، وميفدون وزبدين في قضاء النبطية، كما استهدفت بلدة معروب في قضاء صور.
The Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described today (Thursday) the negotiations between the Lebanese and Israeli delegations in Washington over the past two days as “very difficult,” explaining that he is in contact with international parties to establish a ceasefire.
Aoun said in a statement to reporters: “The negotiations resumed after the intervention of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, following their suspension by the head of the Lebanese delegation, Simon Karam,” indicating that the implementation of the ceasefire could begin within 24 hours of final approval.
He pointed out that the Lebanese side proposed that the “experimental area” include the western and eastern Zawtar and the Shakif Castle as a first phase, which Israel announced days ago it had taken control of, noting that he has been in contact with international and internal parties since 2 AM to establish the ceasefire.
He added that the Lebanese authorities are awaiting responses from all concerned parties and guarantees for the commitment to implement the ceasefire, emphasizing: “We rely on Trump’s role and his administration in implementing the agreement with Israel.”
Aoun pointed out that the agreement could be the last opportunity; otherwise, each party must bear its responsibilities.
The Lebanese president’s statements came at a time when sources confirmed that the army began opening the Marjeyoun-Debbin road in southern Lebanon.
In contrast, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, Yair Lapid, stated that the Lebanese armed forces would take exclusive control of the experimental areas, explaining that the Israeli forces in southern Lebanon would allow for “safe passage” for Hezbollah members to move north of the Litani River.
He considered that peace between Israel and Lebanon “can only be achieved if this Iranian proxy is neutralized,” stressing: “We are on our way to achieving that.”
He added: “If Hezbollah is determined to undermine the ceasefire, the consequences will fall on them,” describing the ceasefire agreement announced last night as “relatively unprecedented.”
He noted that the next round of talks would also be at the ambassadorial level, but he confirmed “that they are working to hold a meeting at the leaders’ level.”
Earlier today, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that his country would continue its operations on the ground in southern Lebanon for the time being, provided that Hezbollah halts all attacks on northern Israel and withdraws its fighters from the area south of the Litani River.
Katz said in a statement that “the Israeli army will remain in large areas of southern Lebanon.”
On the ground, Israel intensified its airstrikes on towns in southern Lebanon despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement. According to eyewitnesses, the strikes targeted the vicinity of the Qaraoun Dam, Sahmar, and Qilya in the western Bekaa, as well as Mifdoun and Zabdine in the Nabatieh district, and also targeted the town of Ma’aroub in the Tyre district.
