قرر الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «فيفا» رفع العلم السعودي عن الأرض في مباراة أوروغواي، التي جمعتهما ضمن الجولة الأولى من منافسات المجموعة الثامنة، وانتهت بالتعادل الإيجابي (1-1)، في مخالفة للبروتوكول المعتاد قبل مباريات كأس العالم.
وجاء هذا القرار بعد طلب رسمي من الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم، احتراماً للعلم الذي يحمل راية التوحيد، ولقيت هذه البادرة استحسان الكثير من محبي الرياضية.
وقدم المنتخب السعودي أداء مميزاً في الشوط الأول، ونجح في فرض أفضليته على منافسه، بعدما صنع عدة فرص خطيرة أبرزها عبر سالم الدوسري وعبدالإله العمري، قبل أن يترجم الأخير تفوق «الأخضر» بتسجيل هدف التقدم في الدقيقة (40) إثر متابعته كرة مرتدة من حارس مرمى الأوروغواي.
وفي الشوط الثاني، كثف المنتخب الأوروغوياني ضغطه بحثاً عن التعادل، ونجح ماكسي أراوخو في إدراكه عند الدقيقة 80، لتنتهي المواجهة بالتعادل الإيجابي بهدف لمثله رغم المحاولات المتبادلة لحسم اللقاء.
وبهذه النتيجة، حصد المنتخب السعودي أول نقطة له في البطولة، ليتساوى مع منتخبات المجموعة الثامنة برصيد نقطة واحدة لكل منها، بعدما انتهت المباراة الأخرى في المجموعة بتعادل منتخب إسبانيا مع الرأس الأخضر في إحدى أبرز مفاجآت الجولة الأولى.
ويخوض المنتخب السعودي مباراته الثانية في دور المجموعات أمام نظيره الإسباني الأحد القادم، فيما يلتقي منتخب الأوروغواي مع الرأس الأخضر.
The International Football Federation “FIFA” decided to raise the Saudi flag on the ground during the match against Uruguay, which took place in the first round of the eighth group competitions, ending in a positive draw (1-1), in violation of the usual protocol before World Cup matches.
This decision came after an official request from the Saudi Football Federation, in respect of the flag that carries the banner of unification, and this initiative was well received by many sports enthusiasts.
The Saudi national team delivered a distinguished performance in the first half, successfully imposing its superiority over its opponent, creating several dangerous chances, most notably through Salem Al-Dawsari and Abdulilah Al-Amri, before the latter translated the “Green’s” dominance by scoring the opening goal in the 40th minute after following up on a rebound from the Uruguayan goalkeeper.
In the second half, the Uruguayan team intensified its pressure in search of an equalizer, and Maxi Araujo succeeded in achieving it in the 80th minute, ending the match in a positive draw with one goal each despite the exchanged attempts to settle the match.
With this result, the Saudi national team earned its first point in the tournament, equaling the teams in the eighth group with one point each, after the other match in the group ended in a draw between the Spanish team and Cape Verde in one of the biggest surprises of the first round.
The Saudi national team will play its second match in the group stage against the Spanish team next Sunday, while the Uruguayan team will face Cape Verde.
