لقي شخص مصرعه وأصيب خمسة آخرون، مساء الثلاثاء، إثر تحطم طائرة خاصة على أحد الطرق السريعة في مدينة لاريدوبولاية تكساس الأمريكية، وفق ما أعلنته السلطات المحلية.
وقالت إدارة شرطة لاريدو إن الضحية كان من بين ستة أشخاص كانوا على متن الطائرة، مشيرة إلى أنها لم تكشف هويته بعد في انتظار إبلاغ أفراد أسرته رسمياً.
وأعرب عمدة المدينة فيكتور تريفينو عن تعازيه لأسر الضحايا والمصابين، مؤكداً أن السلطات تتابع الحادث عن كثب.
من جانبها، أعلنت شركة NetJets للطيران الخاص أنها على علم بالحادثة في إحدى طائراتها بلاريدو، وأنها تتعاون مع الجهات المختصة للتحقيق في ملابساتها.
وبحسب بيانات تتبع الرحلات الجوية، فإن الطائرة المنكوبة من طراز Cessna Citation Latitude وكانت تحمل رقم التسجيل N523QS، وكانت قد أقلعت من سان خوسيه ديل كابو في المكسيك متجهة إلى أوستن، قبل أن تغيّر مسارها وتتجه نحو لاريدو لأسباب لم تُعرف بعد.
وأفادت الشرطة بأنها تلقت بلاغاً عن الحادثة نحو الساعة العاشرة مساءً بالتوقيت المحلي، حيث سقطت الطائرة على جزء من الطريق السريع المعروف باسم بوب بولوك الدائري في لاريدو، وهو جزء من الطريق الدائري رقم 20 في تكساس.
وأكد المحقق جو بايزا أن أجزاء من الطائرة ظلت متناثرة على الطريق حتى صباح الأربعاء، كما تسربت كميات من وقود الطائرات إلى موقع الحادثة، ما استدعى عمليات تنظيف وتأمين واسعة النطاق.
وأضاف أن الطريق سيظل مغلقاً في الاتجاهين لفترة طويلة، مرجحاً استمرار الإغلاق حتى ساعات الصباح بسبب أعمال التحقيق وإزالة الحطام.
وشاركت عناصر من مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي في تأمين الموقع، فيما أعلن المجلس الوطني لسلامة النقل أنه بدأ جمع المعلومات اللازمة تمهيداً لفتح تحقيق رسمي لتحديد أسباب الحادثة وملابساتها.
ولا تزال السلطات الأمريكية تواصل التحقيق لمعرفة الأسباب التي أدت إلى سقوط الطائرة، في وقت نُقل فيه المصابون الخمسة إلى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج.
One person was killed and five others were injured on Tuesday evening after a private plane crashed on a highway in Laredo, Texas, according to local authorities.
The Laredo Police Department stated that the victim was among six people on board the plane, noting that they have not yet disclosed his identity pending official notification of his family.
Laredo Mayor Victor Trevino expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and the injured, affirming that authorities are closely monitoring the incident.
For its part, NetJets, the private aviation company, announced that it is aware of the incident involving one of its planes in Laredo and is cooperating with the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances.
According to flight tracking data, the ill-fated aircraft was a Cessna Citation Latitude with registration number N523QS, which had taken off from San José del Cabo in Mexico heading to Austin, before changing its course towards Laredo for reasons that are still unknown.
The police reported that they received a call about the incident around 10 PM local time, where the plane crashed on a section of the highway known as Bob Bullock Loop in Laredo, which is part of Loop 20 in Texas.
Investigator Joe Baiza confirmed that parts of the plane remained scattered on the road until Wednesday morning, and that fuel leaked from the aircraft at the crash site, necessitating extensive cleanup and security operations.
He added that the road will remain closed in both directions for an extended period, likely until morning hours due to investigation and debris removal work.
Elements from the Federal Bureau of Investigation participated in securing the site, while the National Transportation Safety Board announced that it has begun gathering necessary information in preparation for an official investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.
U.S. authorities are still continuing their investigation to find out the reasons that led to the plane’s crash, while the five injured individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.
