وقال بيسنت: «نواجه حالة من الانهيار، ولا يستطيعون حتى دفع رواتب جنودهم، لا أعرف كيف ستنتهي الأمور، فمن المستحيل التنبؤ بالنهاية بدقة»، مضيفاً: «لا نعلم ما إذا كان الشعب سينتفض، أم أن عناصر الحرس الثوري سينقلبون على بعضهم البعض، أم أنهم سيعودون إلى رشدهم ويسعون لإبرام اتفاق يتخلون بموجبه عن البرنامج النووي ويلتزمون ببنود الاتفاق، إذن، قد نكون أمام واحد من هذه السيناريوهات الثلاثة».}
The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority announced today (Sunday) that a tanker heading out of the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an unknown projectile that hit its left side, stating that the strike caused damage to the tanker, but all crew members are safe. The authority mentioned that there are no reports of any environmental impact.
For his part, Indian Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated that the tanker (M/T Valthera), registered in the Marshall Islands and carrying 11 Indian sailors, was hit by an unknown sudden impact in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a fire on board. He noted that all 11 crew members are safe, and the situation is being continuously monitored while remaining in contact with the ship management company to ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of the crew members.
The incident comes amid increasing attacks and security incidents targeting oil tankers and cargo ships in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz, which represents one of the most important energy corridors in the world, through which large quantities of oil and gas exports from the Gulf region pass.
Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent told Fox News today that a military confrontation is not expected at least until after the midterm elections, considering this an important point. Pisent expressed his belief that the U.S. maritime blockade on Iran will continue “for a period of two to four months,” anticipating that the Iranians will eventually have to surrender and seek de-escalation or raise the white flag.
Pisent said, “We are facing a collapse, and they can’t even pay their soldiers’ salaries. I don’t know how things will end; it’s impossible to predict the outcome accurately,” adding, “We don’t know if the people will rise up, or if elements of the Revolutionary Guard will turn against each other, or if they will come to their senses and seek to reach an agreement in which they abandon the nuclear program and adhere to the terms of the agreement; thus, we may be facing one of these three scenarios.”
