شدد رئيس أركان محور تعز في الجيش اليمني اللواء عبدالعزيز المجيدي، على أن المواجهات الحالية مع مليشيا الحوثي تمثل «معركة وجودية» بالنسبة للقوات المدافعة عن المدينة. وأكد أن القوات الحكومية تخوض معارك ضد الحوثيين على مختلف محاور تعز.
وقال المجيدي في تصريحات لقناة «العربية»، إن القوات الحكومية تواجه محاولات الحوثيين التقدم إلى داخل تعز من جميع المحاور، مؤكداً استمرار المواجهات على مختلف الجبهات المحيطة بالمدينة. وأشار إلى أن قوات الجيش تتصدى لهذه المحاولات، وتعمل على منع الحوثيين من تحقيق تقدم ميداني باتجاه المدينة.
وأوضح أن الاشتباكات لا تقتصر على محور واحد، بل تشمل مختلف محاور المدينة، في ظل ما وصفه بمحاولات متواصلة من الحوثيين للدخول إليها.
وفيما يتعلق باستعدادات الجيش، أكد المجيدي أن القوات الحكومية باتت اليوم أكثر جاهزية مما كانت عليه في السابق لمواجهة الحوثيين. وجدد التأكيد على قدرة القوات المدافعة عن تعز على التصدي لمحاولات التقدم نحو المدينة، في ظل استمرار المواجهات على محاورها المختلفة.
وتكتسب تعز أهمية إستراتيجية في الصراع اليمني، نظراً إلى موقعها الجغرافي الذي يربط مناطق عدة في شمال البلاد وجنوبها، فضلاً عن كونها من أبرز المدن التي شهدت مواجهات طويلة بين القوات الحكومية والحوثيين.
وعانت المدينة خلال سنوات الحرب من القتال والقيود المفروضة على حركة السكان والبضائع، ما فاقم الأوضاع الإنسانية والاقتصادية فيها.
وتواصل «فجر اليمن» عملياتها في عدة جبهات، ورصد شهود عيان في محافظة إب إطلاق مليشيات الحوثي عدة صواريخ من شمال المحافظة باتجاه محافظتي شبوة وأبين جنوبي اليمن.
وفي محافظة صعدة، شن الطيران الحربي أربع غارات جوية استهدفت مواقع لمليشيات الحوثي في مديرية سحار.
وفي تعز، أفاد محور تعز بتنفيذ كمائن استهدفت عناصر من مليشيات الحوثي فجر اليوم في منطقة الأقروض ومناطق أخرى بمديرية المسراخ جنوبي مدينة تعز. وشهدت منطقة الشقب بمديرية صبر الموادم جنوب شرقي مدينة تعز مواجهات بالتزامن مع تثبيت القوات الحكومية مواقعها في أطراف المدينة.
The Chief of Staff of the Taiz Axis in the Yemeni army, Major General Abdulaziz Al-Majidi, emphasized that the current confrontations with the Houthi militia represent an “existential battle” for the forces defending the city. He confirmed that the government forces are engaged in battles against the Houthis on various fronts in Taiz.
Al-Majidi stated in remarks to Al-Arabiya channel that the government forces are facing attempts by the Houthis to advance into Taiz from all directions, affirming the continuation of confrontations on various fronts surrounding the city. He pointed out that the army forces are countering these attempts and working to prevent the Houthis from making any ground progress towards the city.
He clarified that the clashes are not limited to one front but encompass various fronts of the city, amid what he described as ongoing attempts by the Houthis to enter it.
Regarding the army’s preparations, Al-Majidi confirmed that the government forces are now more prepared than before to confront the Houthis. He reiterated the capability of the forces defending Taiz to thwart attempts to advance towards the city, as confrontations continue on its various fronts.
Taiz holds strategic importance in the Yemeni conflict due to its geographical location, which connects several areas in the north and south of the country, in addition to being one of the prominent cities that has witnessed prolonged confrontations between government forces and the Houthis.
The city has suffered during the years of war from fighting and restrictions imposed on the movement of people and goods, exacerbating the humanitarian and economic conditions there.
“Fajr Yemen” continues its operations on several fronts, and eyewitnesses in Al-Bayda Governorate reported the Houthi militias launching several missiles from the north of the governorate towards the southern governorates of Shabwa and Abyan.
In Saada Governorate, the warplanes carried out four airstrikes targeting Houthi militia positions in the Sahar district.
In Taiz, the Taiz Axis reported executing ambushes targeting elements of the Houthi militia early this morning in the Al-Aqroud area and other areas in the Al-Masrak district south of Taiz city. The Al-Shaqab area in the Saber Al-Mawadem district southeast of Taiz city witnessed confrontations coinciding with the government forces consolidating their positions on the outskirts of the city.
