The Yemeni armed forces accused the Houthi terrorist militia today (Tuesday) of committing a crime that involved the mutilation of the bodies of eight of its members on the fronts of Taiz, confirming that the bodies it received through the International Committee of the Red Cross had been subjected to the application of corrosive chemicals, breaking of limbs, and obliteration of facial features.
The spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, Colonel Majid Abdullah Al-Nazili, stated that the medical team at the military hospital documented the signs of deliberate mutilation on the bodies, describing what happened as a violation of the sanctity of the Muslim human being and Yemeni tribal customs, and a crime that is punishable by local and international laws.
Al-Nazili explained that this crime adds to the militia’s record of mutilating bodies, citing the delivery of the body of Brigadier General Hussein Al-Asimi, commander of the 161st Infantry Brigade, in 2020, which bore signs of torture and acid burns after he was captured while injured, in addition to the bodies of soldiers who were held alive by the militia in Al-Jawf in 2023 before being executed and their bodies burned and features obliterated.
The spokesman for the Yemeni army held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the crime, calling on Yemeni scholars and tribal leaders in various governorates to condemn it. He also urged the United Nations and human rights organizations to open an independent investigation to identify those responsible in preparation for their prosecution, affirming that this crime will not be subject to statute of limitations.
Al-Nazili emphasized that these crimes will only increase the Yemeni armed forces’ determination to continue fighting until the complete liberation of Yemen and the restoration of state authority over every inch of the homeland.
