The Democratic Republic of the Congo is facing a widespread outbreak of the Ebola virus, with the death toll exceeding 4,887, according to the latest data released by the country’s public health institute.

This comes amid concerns about the transmission of the infection to other African countries, as the outbreak declared in May continues, recording unprecedented figures in the country’s history, surpassing the outbreak experienced between 2018 and 2020.
