يُعَدّ الوعي الفكري مرحلة من مراحل النضوج العقلي والوجداني، يصل فيها الإنسان إلى القدرة على التفكير الإبداعي، وممارسة النقد والتحليل، وفهم الأفكار وتقييمها، إلى جانب امتلاك مهارات حلّ المشكلات. وقد تميّزت الأميرة سارة بنت عبدالله بن فيصل بن تركي آل سعود- رحمها الله-
بوعيها الفكري المتقد، وهو ما جعلها تختلف عن أقرانها ومعاصريها في تلك الحقبة، بل وعن بعض نساء الأسرة المالكة اللاتي قدّمن أعمالاً مشابهة. فقد عاشت الأميرة سارة في فترة حافلة بالاضطرابات السياسية والخلافات الداخلية، ومع ذلك أسهمت بطريقة فعّالة وإن كانت غير مباشرة في مجالات التنمية داخل المملكة.
لقد أسهمت عوامل عدة في بناء وعيها الفكري، من أبرزها البيئة العلمية التي نشأت فيها؛ إذ تربّت في محيط ديني وعلمي مشبَع بحفظ القرآن الكريم والحديث النبوي الشريف، الأمر الذي أكسبها مرجعية معرفية راسخة ورؤية متزنة تجاه شؤون الحياة.
وفي السياق ذاته، تجلّى وعيها الفكري في قدرتها على استيعاب الاحتياجات العلمية وتحليل أوضاع المجتمع الداخلي، من خلال إدراكها للسياقات الثقافية المؤثرة في تشكيل الأفكار واتجاهاتها.
كما برز بُعدُها النقدي في الكتب التي أوقفتها؛ إذ جسّد وقفُها للمخطوطات والكتب العلمية وإتاحتها للناس رؤيةً فلسفية عميقة. فقد كانت تؤمن بأن الحرية الفكرية ليست مطلقة، وأن بعض المعارف قد تربك الوعي أو تشوّش الرؤية، لذا جاء اختيارها للكتب قائماً على احترام الهوية العربية والدينية والثقافية. وبهذا تحوّلت القراءة في نظرها إلى مسؤولية اجتماعية تعكس فهماً واعياً للتحديات الفكرية، وتدلّ على قدرتها على تقييم المعلومات بشكل مستقل والتفكير بطريقة منهجية ومنظمة.
ويسهم الوعي الفكري بطبيعته في تعزيز التفكير الإبداعي، وقد ظهر ذلك لدى الأميرة سارة في وعيها باحتياجات المجتمع وقدرتها على توليد أفكار جديدة تسهم في تلبيتها. ويتضح ذلك في مساواتها بين الناس في الحصول على منح الأراضي وفق معايير محدّدة للمفاضلة. كما انعكس وعيها الفكري في خبرتها بالطب الشعبي، حيث امتازت بمهارة لافتة في هذا المجال.
أضف إلى ذلك الأميرة سارة لم تحظَ باستقرار أسري كامل، غير أنّ ذلك لم يؤثر سلباً في شخصيتها؛ فانتقالها المبكر بين كنف زوجة والدها وعمّتها عكس الظروف غير المستقرة في تلك الفترة. وقد أتاح لها هذا الواقع الاطلاع المباشر على طبيعة التحديات السياسية والاجتماعية، مما أسهم في تعزيز وعيها المبكر وصقل قدرتها على التكيّف مع المتغيّرات.
ويُعَدّ التواصل الفعّال أحد معايير الوعي الفكري؛ وقد حظيت الأميرة سارة بلقب «العَمّة»، في دلالة على مكانتها الجامعة ودورها في تقوية أواصر الأسرة والمجتمع خلال ظروف سياسية واجتماعية معقّدة، مما يدل على قدرتها على توظيف المعرفة والمهارات في خدمة المجتمع وتحقيق أهدافه.
وفي مجمل القول، فقد فتح الوعي الفكري آفاقاً واسعة أمام الأميرة سارة للإبداع، وممارسة التفكير النقدي، واتخاذ قرارات واعية ومسؤولة، مما جعلها إحدى الشخصيات المؤثرة في تاريخ المجتمع السعودي.
Intellectual awareness is considered a stage of mental and emotional maturity, where a person reaches the ability to think creatively, engage in criticism and analysis, understand and evaluate ideas, along with possessing problem-solving skills. Princess Sara bint Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki Al Saud – may God have mercy on her –
was distinguished by her heightened intellectual awareness, which set her apart from her peers and contemporaries in that era, as well as from some women of the royal family who had undertaken similar works. Princess Sara lived during a period filled with political turmoil and internal conflicts; nevertheless, she contributed effectively, albeit indirectly, to development within the kingdom.
Several factors contributed to the formation of her intellectual awareness, the most prominent of which was the scientific environment in which she grew up; she was raised in a religious and scholarly atmosphere saturated with the memorization of the Holy Quran and the noble prophetic hadith, which endowed her with a solid knowledge base and a balanced perspective on life’s affairs.
In this context, her intellectual awareness manifested in her ability to comprehend scientific needs and analyze the internal societal conditions, through her understanding of the cultural contexts that influence the formation of ideas and their directions.
Her critical dimension also emerged in the books she endowed; her endowment of manuscripts and scientific books and making them available to the public reflected a deep philosophical vision. She believed that intellectual freedom is not absolute, and that some knowledge might confuse awareness or distort vision; thus, her selection of books was based on respecting Arab, religious, and cultural identity. In this way, reading, in her view, transformed into a social responsibility that reflects a conscious understanding of intellectual challenges and indicates her ability to evaluate information independently and think methodically and systematically.
Intellectual awareness inherently contributes to enhancing creative thinking, and this was evident in Princess Sara’s awareness of community needs and her ability to generate new ideas that contribute to meeting them. This is evident in her equal treatment of people in obtaining land grants based on specific criteria for preference. Her intellectual awareness also reflected in her experience with folk medicine, where she excelled with notable skill in this field.
Moreover, Princess Sara did not enjoy complete family stability; however, this did not negatively affect her personality. Her early transition between the care of her father’s wife and her aunt reflected the unstable conditions of that period. This reality allowed her direct insight into the nature of political and social challenges, which contributed to enhancing her early awareness and refining her ability to adapt to changes.
Effective communication is considered one of the criteria of intellectual awareness; Princess Sara was honored with the title “Aunt,” indicating her unifying status and her role in strengthening the bonds of family and community during complex political and social conditions, which demonstrates her ability to utilize knowledge and skills in the service of society and achieving its goals.
In summary, intellectual awareness opened wide horizons for Princess Sara for creativity, engaging in critical thinking, and making conscious and responsible decisions, which made her one of the influential figures in the history of Saudi society.
