
قتلت الشرطة البرازيلية رجلاً مشتبهاً به احتجز 13 طفلاً تحت تهديد السلاح داخل مدرستهم في مدينة كوريتيبا جنوب البلاد، فيما لم يُصب أي من الأطفال بأذى.
وقالت المتحدثة باسم شرطة ولاية بارانا، ليتيسيا مارتينز، إن المشتبه به اقتحم أحد الفصول الدراسية واحتجز الأطفال والعاملين رهائن لمدة ساعتين، دون أن تكشف عن ملابسات مقتله أو أعمار الأطفال المحتجزين.
وأضافت، في تصريحات للصحفيين أمام مدرسة «سي إم آي آي ساو براذ»، أن الرجل هدد بسكب البنزين على نفسه وعلى الموجودين، مشيرة إلى أن فرق التفاوض التابعة للشرطة كانت في الموقع، لكنها لم تجد خياراً سوى تحييده، دون توضيح دوافعه.
ووقع الحادث في منطقة تسكنها الطبقة المتوسطة بمدينة كوريتيبا، التي يبلغ عدد سكانها 1.8 مليون نسمة، وتقع على بعد 400 كيلومتر جنوب ساو باولو.
وأظهرت لقطات بثتها وسائل إعلام محلية أولياء أمور يبكون خارج المدرسة في انتظار معرفة مصير أبنائهم، بينما كانت المفاوضات بين الشرطة والمشتبه به مستمرة.
وبعد دقائق من وقوع انفجارين، ظهر أفراد الشرطة وهم يحملون عدداً من الأطفال إلى خارج المدرسة. وأعلنت بلدية كوريتيبا تقديم الدعم النفسي للأطفال والعاملين في المدرسة عقب الحادث.
The Brazilian police killed a suspect who had taken 13 children hostage at gunpoint inside their school in the city of Curitiba in the south of the country, while none of the children were harmed.
Police spokesperson for the state of Paraná, Leticia Martins, stated that the suspect stormed into a classroom and held the children and staff hostage for two hours, without revealing the circumstances of his death or the ages of the hostages.
She added, in statements to reporters outside the “CMEI São Brás” school, that the man threatened to pour gasoline on himself and those present, noting that police negotiation teams were on-site but found no option other than to neutralize him, without clarifying his motives.
The incident occurred in a middle-class area of Curitiba, which has a population of 1.8 million and is located 400 kilometers south of São Paulo.
Footage broadcast by local media showed parents crying outside the school while waiting to learn the fate of their children, as negotiations between the police and the suspect continued.
Minutes after two explosions occurred, police officers were seen carrying several children out of the school. The municipality of Curitiba announced the provision of psychological support for the children and staff at the school following the incident.
