لقي مواطن مصري يدعى محمد عمر، (41 عامًا)، مصرعه إثر اعتداء داخل مسكنه بمدينة مانشستر البريطانية، في واقعة تقول شقيقته رحاب إن دافعها كان السرقة، وإن حصيلة ما عثر عليه المعتدون بحوزته لم تتجاوز 12 جنيهًا إسترلينيًا، فيما ألقت الشرطة القبض على 5 أشخاص على خلفية الحادثة، بحسب روايتها.
12 جنيهًا إسترلينيًا وراء الجريمة
وفي تصريحات خاصة لـ«عكاظ»، كشفت رحاب عمر تفاصيل حياة شقيقها في بريطانيا، موضحة أنه سافر إلى إنجلترا بعد أن تعرّف على فتاة بريطانية خلال فترة عمله في مدينة شرم الشيخ، ثم تزوجها وانتقل معها إلى مانشستر، حيث أنجبا ابنتهما ليلى، البالغة من العمر 17 عامًا.
وأضافت أن شقيقها انفصل عن زوجته بعد نحو 4 سنوات من الزواج، لكنه فضّل البقاء في مانشستر ليظل قريبًا من ابنته، واستمر في العمل بوظائف مختلفة، متنقلًا بين أماكن العمل والسكن بحثًا عن خيارات أقل تكلفة وأقرب إلى مقر عمله.
وقالت إن شقيقها أقام في بناية يسكنها أشخاص من جنسيات أفريقية مختلفة، مشيرة إلى أنه تعرض، بحسب روايتها، للتنمر من 5 أشخاص، لكنه تجاهل مضايقاتهم، قبل أن يتعرض لهجوم داخل غرفته بغرض السرقة.
وبحسب شقيقته، لم يعثر المعتدون بحوزته إلا على 12 جنيهًا إسترلينيًا، فيما أكدت أن الضربة التي أودت بحياته كانت باستخدام عصا خشبية «شومة» بجوار عينه.
خلافات سبقت الاعتداء
وأوضحت رحاب أن الخلافات بين شقيقها وبعض المقيمين في البناية بدأت قبل نحو عام، بسبب مشكلات تتعلق بالنظافة واستخدام الأماكن المشتركة، وتطورت إلى توترات متكررة.
وأضافت أن محمد أخبرها قبل وفاته بأنه يتعرض لضغوط مرتبطة بديانته، وأن بعض المقيمين طلبوا منه اعتناق ديانتهم، لكنه رفض، وفق روايتها.
وأشارت إلى أنه كان يستعد لمغادرة المسكن بسبب تصاعد الخلافات، لكنه انتظر الحصول على راتبه في العاشر من أكتوبر الجاري، حتى يتمكن من الانتقال إلى مكان آخر.
كمين داخل الغرفة
وروت شقيقة الضحية أن الواقعة حدثت في السادس من أكتوبر، عندما عاد محمد من عمله الأول، وكان يستعد للخروج إلى عمله الثاني، قبل أن يفاجأ بالأشخاص الخمسة، الذين هاجموه داخل غرفته، بحسب قولها.
وأضافت أن الاعتداء وقع داخل الغرفة بعيدًا عن الممر الذي توجد فيه كاميرات مراقبة، مشيرة إلى أن المقيمين الآخرين في المسكن استدعوا الإسعاف، لكن محاولات إنعاشه لم تنجح، وأُعلن عن وفاته متأثرًا بإصاباته.
القبض على 5 أشخاص
وأكدت رحاب أن أصدقاء شقيقها أبلغوا الشرطة بالواقعة، وأن السلطات ألقت القبض على الأشخاص الخمسة، وفق المعلومات التي تلقتها.
وناشدت الجهات المعنية والسفارة المصرية سرعة التدخل لاستكمال الإجراءات اللازمة لنقل جثمان شقيقها إلى مصر، حتى تتمكن الأسرة من دفنه في مسقط رأسه بمحافظة الإسماعيلية.

His sister Rehab claims that the motive was robbery, and that the total amount found in the possession of the assailants did not exceed 12 British pounds, while the police arrested 5 individuals in connection with the incident, according to her account.
12 British Pounds Behind the Crime
In exclusive statements to “Okaz,” Rehab Omar revealed details about her brother’s life in Britain, explaining that he traveled to England after meeting a British girl during his work in Sharm El Sheikh, then married her and moved with her to Manchester, where they had their daughter Layla, who is 17 years old.
She added that her brother separated from his wife after about 4 years of marriage, but he preferred to stay in Manchester to remain close to his daughter. He continued to work in various jobs, moving between work and living places in search of cheaper options closer to his workplace.
She said that her brother lived in a building inhabited by people of different African nationalities, noting that he had been bullied by 5 individuals, but he ignored their harassment before being attacked in his room for the purpose of robbery.
According to his sister, the assailants found only 12 British pounds in his possession, while she confirmed that the blow that took his life was inflicted with a wooden stick “shoma” next to his eye.
Disputes Preceding the Assault
Rehab explained that disputes between her brother and some residents of the building began about a year ago, due to issues related to cleanliness and the use of common areas, which developed into recurring tensions.
She added that Mohamed told her before his death that he was under pressure related to his religion, and that some residents had asked him to convert to their faith, but he refused, according to her account.
She pointed out that he was preparing to leave the residence due to the escalating disputes, but he waited to receive his salary on October 10th, so he could move to another place.
An Ambush Inside the Room
The victim’s sister recounted that the incident occurred on October 6th, when Mohamed returned from his first job and was preparing to leave for his second job, before being surprised by the five individuals who attacked him inside his room, according to her.
She added that the assault took place inside the room away from the corridor where surveillance cameras are located, noting that other residents in the building called for an ambulance, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Arrest of 5 Individuals
Rehab confirmed that her brother’s friends reported the incident to the police, and that the authorities arrested the five individuals, according to the information she received.
She appealed to the relevant authorities and the Egyptian embassy for swift intervention to complete the necessary procedures for transferring her brother’s body to Egypt, so that the family could bury him in his hometown in Ismailia Governorate.
