أكدت سفيرة خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الأميرة ريما بنت بندر بن سلطان أن مشاركة المنتخب السعودي في كأس العالم FIFA 2026 تمثل حضورًا وطنيًا مهمًا في أكبر محفل كروي عالمي، وتعكس ما وصلت إليه الرياضة السعودية من تطور نوعي في ظل الدعم غير المحدود من القيادة الرشيدة، واهتمامها بتمكين القطاع الرياضي وتعزيز حضوره إقليميًا ودوليًا.
وقالت الأميرة ريما بنت بندر بن سلطان في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء السعودية: «إن الرياضة السعودية تعيش مرحلة تاريخية غير مسبوقة، بفضل رؤية المملكة 2030 وما وفرته من ممكنات صنعت واقعًا جديدًا للرياضة والرياضيين في المملكة، وأسهمت في رفع جودة المنافسة، وتوسيع قاعدة الممارسة، واستضافة كبرى البطولات العالمية، وجعلت المملكة حاضرة بثقة في قلب المشهد الرياضي الدولي».
وأضافت: «ونحن في سفارة المملكة لدى الولايات المتحدة نعتز بمواكبة هذا الحضور الوطني خلال بطولة كأس العالم، ونعمل بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية على دعم مشاركة المنتخب السعودي، وخدمة الجماهير والوفود والإعلاميين السعوديين، بما يليق باسم المملكة ومكانتها، ويعكس الصورة المشرفة لأبناء الوطن في هذا الحدث العالمي».
وأشارت إلى أن حضور السفارة في الفعاليات الرياضية المصاحبة، ومنها تحقيق فريق السفارة لقب كأس السفارات، والمشاركة في قمة الدبلوماسية الرياضية بواشنطن، يجسد إيمان المملكة بأن الرياضة ليست منافسة داخل الملعب فحسب، بل جسر للتواصل بين الشعوب، ومنصة لتعزيز التقارب الثقافي، وبناء الشراكات، وتقديم المملكة كما هي: وطن طموح ومنفتح ومؤثر في العالم.
واختتمت تصريحها بالتأكيد على أن المنتخب السعودي يدخل كأس العالم حاملًا تطلعات وطن وشغف جماهيره، وقالت: «كلنا ثقة في أبناء المنتخب الوطني، وفخرنا بهم يتجاوز نتائج المباريات؛ فهم يمثلون راية المملكة، وقيمها، وطموح شبابها، وحضورها المتنامي في العالم».
The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States, Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, confirmed that the participation of the Saudi national team in the FIFA World Cup 2026 represents an important national presence in the largest global football event, reflecting the qualitative development that Saudi sports have achieved under the unlimited support of the wise leadership, and its interest in empowering the sports sector and enhancing its presence regionally and internationally.
Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan stated in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency: “Saudi sports are experiencing an unprecedented historical phase, thanks to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which has provided the capabilities that have created a new reality for sports and athletes in the Kingdom, contributed to raising the quality of competition, expanding the base of participation, hosting major global championships, and made the Kingdom confidently present at the heart of the international sports scene.”
She added: “At the Embassy of the Kingdom in the United States, we take pride in accompanying this national presence during the World Cup, and we are working in coordination with the relevant authorities to support the participation of the Saudi national team, and to serve the fans, delegations, and Saudi media, in a manner befitting the name and status of the Kingdom, and reflecting the honorable image of the sons of the nation in this global event.”
She pointed out that the embassy’s presence at the accompanying sports events, including the embassy team winning the Embassy Cup, and participating in the Sports Diplomacy Summit in Washington, embodies the Kingdom’s belief that sports are not just competition on the field, but a bridge for communication between peoples, a platform for enhancing cultural rapprochement, building partnerships, and presenting the Kingdom as it is: an ambitious, open, and influential nation in the world.
She concluded her statement by emphasizing that the Saudi national team enters the World Cup carrying the aspirations of a nation and the passion of its fans, saying: “We are all confident in the sons of the national team, and our pride in them goes beyond match results; they represent the banner of the Kingdom, its values, the aspirations of its youth, and its growing presence in the world.”
