فاز مرشح المملكة العربية السعودية عضو مجلس الشورى سعد صليب العتيبي، برئاسة البرلمان العربي بالتزكية، خلال الجلسة الإجرائية التي عقدها البرلمان بمقر الأمانة العامة لجامعة الدول العربية في القاهرة، لانتخاب رئيس البرلمان ومكتبه.
ورفع العتيبي الشكر لخادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، على دعم الكفاءات الوطنية ورعايتها وتمكينها، مؤكداً أن انتخابه يجسد مكانة المملكة ودورها في دعم العمل العربي المشترك. كما أعرب عن تقديره لرئيس مجلس الشورى الشيخ الدكتور عبدالله محمد آل الشيخ، ورؤساء المجالس والبرلمانات العربية وأعضاء البرلمان، على دعمهم وجهودهم.
وأكد، أن المرحلة القادمة تتطلب رؤية متجددة وعملاً مؤسسياً أكثر فاعلية، وتطوير الأداء ورفع الكفاءة وتعزيز الشراكات، بما يحقق نتائج ملموسة ويعزز حضور البرلمان إقليمياً ودولياً.
وشدد على أن التضامن العربي ضرورة لمواجهة التحديات وصون المصالح المشتركة، مؤكداً بقاء القضية الفلسطينية في مقدمة الأولويات، ومواصلة الدفاع عن حقوق الشعب الفلسطيني في إقامة دولته المستقلة وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية، وفق قرارات الشرعية الدولية ومبادرة السلام العربية.
The candidate from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Shura Council member Saad Sulaib Al-Otaibi, was elected as the President of the Arab Parliament by acclamation during the procedural session held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo, to elect the President of the Parliament and its Bureau.
Al-Otaibi expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their support and nurturing of national competencies and their empowerment, affirming that his election embodies the Kingdom’s status and role in supporting joint Arab action. He also expressed his appreciation to the Chairman of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Sheikh, and the heads of Arab councils and parliaments, as well as the members of the parliament, for their support and efforts.
He emphasized that the upcoming phase requires a renewed vision and more effective institutional work, developing performance, enhancing efficiency, and strengthening partnerships, in order to achieve tangible results and enhance the Parliament’s presence regionally and internationally.
He stressed that Arab solidarity is essential to face challenges and safeguard common interests, reaffirming that the Palestinian cause remains a top priority, and continuing to defend the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
