The representative of the nation, Al-Nasr team, sprang into action and managed to secure its first three points in the AFC Champions League after defeating its guest, Neftchi of Uzbekistan, with a score of 3-1 in the match held at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, as part of the second round of the tournament.
Al-Nasr started the match seeking the three points and launched several attacks in an effort to score an early goal amidst a defensive blockade from the Uzbek team, which relied on counterattacks. Al-Nasr was forced to depend on shots from outside the penalty area, one of which came from Angelo Gabriel, who struck a powerful shot that went just beside the left post (23), followed by a shot from Felix from the right side of the area that went high over the goal (28).
Al-Nasr managed to score the opening goal following a quick attack from the right side, where substitute Ayman Yahya passed the ball to Nawaf Al-Bushal, who then crossed it towards the near post in front of Angelo, who expertly struck it powerfully with his right foot into the net (34). Al-Nasr was able to double its lead by scoring the second goal after its star Sadio Mane played a high cross towards the far post, which Ayman Yahya set up with his chest for Cristiano Ronaldo, who shot it on the first touch powerfully into the tight corner of the net (42).
With the start of the second half, the guests succeeded in reducing the deficit following a long pass that defender Nawaf Al-Bushal failed to clear, allowing substitute Alisher Adilov to strike it powerfully with his left foot into the net (51). The Uzbek team completed the remaining minutes of the match with ten players after their defender Ikram Alibayev was sent off with a direct red card for a rough tackle on Al-Nasr player Mohamed Simakan in midfield in the 65th minute.
From a defensive error, Al-Nasr scored the third goal after Samo Costa crossed the ball from the left side of the penalty area in front of the goal, which defender Anvarjon Gafurov accidentally redirected into his own net (78), ending the match with Al-Nasr winning three goals to one.
